Got a weird problem....

okay. car takes regular time to warm up. when normal low speed driving...no heat. get it up over 50 mph OR rev in park over 3000 rpm for 3 minutes...heat works great!! when revs go down so does heat.... also just for kicks... temp will sometimes spike to H ( real hot) for like 1.5 seconds when car is almost warm... then go to normal temp. any comments would be appreciated. or forum direction to solution.

geesh i got the hood up now and gooing to check fluid levels first, then hoses. maybe bleed air from system??? somebody help the newbie. rookies need love too

right section?

didn't want to put it in the over heating section cuz it doesn't over heat or anything.... hope that was okay.

also can't seem to find my way around the coolant/overheat section.....

I would take care of the overheating issue ASAP. My diagnosis is a sticking thermostat. When you buy new, make sure you go OEM for this part. (I am having the exact same issue right now) I still (regretfully) havent changed my thermostat and eventually one of my hoses busted and coolant spilled everywhere along with clouds of smoke from the engine. Hose was cheap and car works fine now but dont let it get that far.

Now for the heat.. does the blower motor turn on ? Because if the blower motor isnt running, heat will push through the vents while the car is moving at a relatively fast pace (provided the vent setting is non-circulating). And when the car isnt moving, nothing will blow through. If thats the case, my diagnosis for that is a bad blower motor. Very easy to replace, runs about $230 CAD. Another thing thats happening to me right now also.. or you can also rebuild it if you know a thing or two about electical motors, which is fairly easy also. Let us know..

not really a heat prob

this problem is not really an over heating problem. i just( as in just now) took the radiator cap off and the rad seemed to take a gasp. (pressure sound) well i drove it for a minute to go to the auto store and now the heat works fine.... weird. i am going out now to bleed the coolant system too see if it works better, i will have to keep and eye on the temp spike but that does not happen often also the reservoir was almost empty.....

You did not post any history. The major question is why was there air in the cooling system? If you did not have your coolant drained/refilled lately, you need to check for hairline cracks in the radiator top tank. You should have no trouble performing this inspection as Acura green coolant dries to a very light green and is readily visible. If you cannot find any seepage, you need to inspect hoses and especially the heater hoses and inlet nipple affixed to the block. If these are o.k., you need to rule out a failing head-gasket.

check your upper radiator hose, my coupe did the same thing when i first got it. the hose was a little soft so i replaced it and never had the problem again.

O.k. With this additional info, it would appear that the system was not fully bled of air during the water pump replacement. Thank your lucky star.
