GRRR, I'm gonna miss Carlisle unless I figure out why my car isn't starting

I've been under the hood for 4 hours now and I cannot figure it out. I just replaced the timing belt and water pump and that's it. First things first, when I turn the ignition on, I do not get the "Engine" light like my sedan. I checked for fuel, plenty of fuel. Then I checked spark and didn't get any spark. So first off I repaced the ignitor from my sedan. nothing.

I"m about to swap the wiring harness, I need ideas quick. This car hasn't been running for 6 months now, and I go to put it back together and it won't start. It turns over and turns over then nothing.

H.E.L.P.!!!!!!!

If its not getting spark, check the Ignition Control Module, if this checks out then check the crankshaft position sensor. I had problems with intermittant start on my 93 Legend and it turned out that the crank position sensor was the culpret. All of the plastic melted away from the coils and after 190000 miles it just gave up. It appears to be a common problem for it to melt. I hope this helps.

I was also thinking crankshaft position sensor, also possibly the camshaft position sensor. The thing that sucks is that the ECU won't show codes for some reason. I swapped in a known good ECU and it did the same thing. I already swapped the ICM with a known good one and that also did the same thing.

When I had the intermittant starting problem, mine didn't show any codes either. I tried everything. When I replaced my BHG, I noticed the melting. I took the sensor to Acura and they tested it somehow and said that it was shorting its self.

That will suck if the CPS is the problem, you will have to take it all apart again. Good luck

Mike, Make sure you have reconnected the ground wires. The two that I remember are the one at the thermostat housing and the one at the fuel rail. Other than that recheck all connectors, fuses and relay junctions. Good luck.

Is the bulb in the CEL burned out or removed?

I need to get in touch with you about coming up for the bodywork, I tried the number you gave me last time but it was out of service or something like that. I need to know if it's ok for me to come up, and also the address of the shop so I can get directions.

yea the main relay and make sure all the grond wire are in place and check for fuses.

If i remember right power sequence goes like this:

Ignition, fuel pump prime,ECU,fuel pump&ICM &injector resistor pack(Injectors).

crank angle sensor gives the ECU the signal, so its considereded powered when the ecu is.

mike spray a shot of ether into the air intake and give it a crank, if it starts you know you have a fuel problem, if it does'nt then I would start with the obvious like fuses and wire connections, check them for corrosion and a locking fit. how long did you crank on it? maybe pull a plug or two and make sure they are not drenched with fuel. if they are don't try and clean them go buy some new ones. check your plug boots for signs of arcing inside the head. good luck, one of those should fit the bill since the belt is new, wouldnt hurt to test the cam/ crank sensors if all else fails

SORRY if this one is stupid but is there enough gas in the tank? I've seen it way to many times to overlook it..

I shot some starting fluid in the intake, it's definitely not a fuel problem. I can smell gas while trying to start it. I pulled the plugs and they're kinda wet, so I've been cleaning them off after every other start attempt. I also double checked the tank and poured an extra gallon of gas on top of the 3-4 gallons that were already in there. I'm thinking crank or cam sensor. My cam sensor is definitely a little melted, but it's not big deal to tear it down again, I'm more worried about throwing parts at it and not being able to figure it out. Thanks for the advice B. How's Tank?
