HID Lighting
I am just asking memebers personal advice, I just got my 95 legend and I want the HID conversion kit for it so I get that real dark blue look on those expensive cars, what are the best brand names and roughly how much are they going for. Someone told me Phillips makes good kits, but still dont know price??

If you want tha real deal, which you're gonna have to get in order to get tha look you want, look into either Hella, Bosch, or Valeo projectors. Then you could get a D2S Phillips hid kit to go with em. I do believe Valeo is tha smallest, Bosch in tha middle, and Hella being tha largest.
There are two kinds are projectors. 1. regular low beam projectors 2. bi-xenon projectors (both high and low beam together) Tha choice is up to you to decide which projector would be right for you. I decided to go with tha regular low beam projectors considering that I never use my high beams when driving. |

phillips is the best kits range anywhere from 350-600. check ebay or chaffeur first might have some. hella kits are pretty good also. i have both kits the phillips on the bimmer and hella on the acura. the phillips is better imo. but its hard to get it to look nice on the acura because the beam pattern is scattered. but do the projector modification and you will be fine.

i have OEM hid's from a gs400. I modified teh base of the hid bulb to fit a 9006 ring on the bulb. My lights look good. The other day i made a shield for the bulbs so it blocks the scattered light that is reflecting upwards. Now the light color looks a little more purplish.
It is hard to achieve the same look as the other cars that come equip with HIDs because those cars are either using projectors and the headlight is designed for the hid with proper cut offs. With my experience, i think OEM hid's are the best. They use phillips or Osram sylvannia bulbs. I have seen some aftermarket hid's such as mcCulloch only last for a few months. The best bet is to get projectors and retrofit it into the headlight with proper hids. But it takes a lot of modification. |

HID'S
Thanks a lot everyone for writting back and given me more info on them, because I dont have personal experience with them, now it seems to me that getting the projector's with phillips low beam kit is the best way to go. With both of those how much is that going to cost me?

The new Acura's come with the purple tint. I would prolly go for those instead of the blue.

Think of it like a diamond, a diamond will give off a different color the way it is cut and a particular angle you look at it. Same goes with reflectors, our headlights are reflectors, but originally designed to be used with halogen bulbs. When hid's are installed, there needs to be proper shielding needed to block off the ligh that reflects to the bottom of the headlight that causes glare. THe light that reflects to the bottom, is usually the greenish yellow light. With OEM equipped hid cars...there is proper shielding that is why it gives off more of the purple/whitish color. Of course u can get a higher rating bulb but the higher you go in Kelvins the less lumens you will have (light output). |
