I hope not, haha.

Oh, and I think there are a couple vigor owners on here, at least when we had our own vigor only section.
lol

There are a few vigor owners, but they dont say much, and never got much help in the vigor section here. Most of em were sent over to AW (even before the merge)

And i also hope you didnt mean the Legend was replaced with the TL

drive and RL and a TL. Then tell me which one is closer to how a legend drives......I know that according to Acura, the RL is the replacement. But the TL captures the sportiness of the legend, and doesnt get the bloat and float of the RL. Just feels much tighter, and much quicker. The handling and acceleration feel much closer in a legend and a TL, than a legend and an RL. (aside from the 05 and up, those I can see as a replacement.)

drive a first generation TL and tell me the same thing. Those things were a sorry excuse for a sportier car and looked like a Vigor inside to boot.

I still believe the 02-04 RL Captured the Legend's character a little better than the TL did at any point in time (overall outcome of the car). But that's personal.

Just because Honda lost their minds and Named their cars RL and TL and totally CHANGED the character of the beasts doesn't mean the TL replaced the Legend. Sure you love your TL and find it may have more of what you think was a Legend, but don't tell someone the TL was the replacement Legend...That's how lies get out. That's probably what someone told that guy who said it.

TL=Vigor
-They just moved the Vigor up market and tried to use a classic forumla. In doing so, they added more luxury than they should have and the car was then stuck in a spot where it didn't belong. but since it was priced a market-step lower, it was another winning formula for Honda...

RL=Legend
-They Moved this car up market too, but failed because they didn't have the right formula. In moving the car up market (and moving the TL up market too) they trapped themselves. The RL's place in the line up had been comprimised. Since they had to send marketing out for years to get the TL out of the 5-series League, the TL had been getting compared to those cars after 99 for a good amount of time. Just recently did the RL move enough back down to get close to where it was (In 2002 they finally had wiggle room and tried to give the RL a bit more sport, but it was already too late) Of course we know now that in 05 The completely redesigned the car, and the G4 RL is far more Legend like than ANY of the TLs, especially seeing as how it IS a Legend

To put it a different way...

The Legend disappeared in 1996. In 2002 it started to slowly come back. In 2005, It burst back onto the scene.

YES. Both the RL and TL from that Gen sucked.

No way. The suspension on the RL is more like a boat than like a normal honda. I think the TL is closer in that Gen. The RL styling was bland, had no top end. Nothing like the feel of the legend.

I agree with the last statement. Very much. I personally find the TL-S to be closest to my old legend out of all the later gens that I have driven(have not driven and 05 RL). Has the ability to be a cruiser if you want, but also has PLENTY of sport. I dont think any gen RL until 05 captured that in any way, shape, or form. The suspensions were softer and floatier, and they didnt have the kick (see detuned heads and really crappy manifold designs) But I also agree that the 05 and up RL is even closer than the S.
