Hooking up an amp

Any one know the basic directions to hooking up an after market amp. It is made by kicker and has about 300 watts. I have tried about 2 amps in my legend on 2 tens and they will not cut on. Can any audio person tell me what i could be doing wrong. I have hooked up the + & ground wires directly to the battery and i tried hooking it up through the radio's source of power..still no power to amp.

i have had a problem like that before with an aftermarket amp. but you say yours doesnt receive power. i think you should double check your wires and make sure everything is ok.

make sure your connections to the battery and your ground is good also. the most common problem with no power is the ground. make sure you have a good ground connection.

also check your fuses and make sure they are still good and not shorted out. thats pretty much all the advice i can give you about your amp getting power. if all else fails, get a professional to take a look

First off if your amp is located in the trunk then running a ground wire all the way to the battery is worthless and un needed.

Just find a good bolt/screw to use. Scuff up the metal around the bolt/screw place ground wire and tighten.

Power wire is good running str8 to battery.

If you have an aftermarket H/U then it will have a REMOTE wire. The amp should have a Remote option also. Attach Remote from H/U to Remote of Amp. By doing this, when you push the "ON" button on the H/U, your amp will b turned on as well.

If you choose not to use the remote method then your amp should have power all the time, which will drain your battery. Install a flip switch some where, so you can turn amp off and on.

I really don't know why you wold b having trouble. MAKE SURE YOUR AMP IS GROUNDED WELL!! OR ELSE IT MOST LIKELY WILL NOT COME ON DUE TO PROTECTION. LONG GROUND CABLES ARE NOT GOOD, LESS THAN 3 FEET IS GOOD. I MYSELF WOULD NOT HAVE A GROuND WIRE LONGER THAN THAT.
