Horrible Brake Clicking Noise

Ever since I have owned my car, I have had a slight clicking noise coming from the front brake calipers when making a turn with the brakes applied. It didn't bother me too much until last week when it got much worse. Now when I apply the brakes, the calipers make a loud clicking/thumping noise that I can feel from inside. It only does it when I apply the brakes lightly and then goes away when I brake hard. They also make very loud clicking noises when I turn the wheels with my brakes applied. Any ideas???

Thanks in advance!

A "clicking" type of noise is typically associated with a bearing or CV-joint. This should be evidenced under load when turning. A brake caliper which is failing to fully retract produces more of an intermittent "hum". To rule out the brake caliper, drive for about 5 minutes. Stop and carefully place your hand near each wheel. If one is warm or hot, you have a caliper failing to retract. You could also have some debris caught between the disk and splash shield or even a bent splash shield.

I think I had a similiiarissue with you, all I did was take out my front calipers and took the brake shims out and applied some brake disc quiet spray on each side of the shim. After that there were no more noises....

Thanks for the replies. I have 2 new CV axles in the front so I don't think thats what is causing the problem. I agree with you avarice I will remove the wheels and apply some brake quiet and see of that helps.

Thanks

are the wheels stock? If not, look inside to be sure the calipers aren't hitting the wheels

I have same problem coming from rear. When I brake quickly while turning I hear a clicking/snapping noise, like something is moving around back there.
