how long do stock shocks & springs last ?
My 1994 has 65,000 miles and stocks and springs are original. I am considering replacing the shocks as I think that the ride comfort on bumpy roads could be better. I am not looking for high performance, just a smooth ride
How do I (as opposed to the shop) determine what (if anything) is needed ? Shocks ONLY, springs ONLY, or BOTH springs AND shocks ? I just don't want to spend money on replacing parts that don't need replacing, or that wont improve the ride. Can anyone offer any advise, or a good shop in Toronto that can help me out. Thanks |

the springs shouldn't need to be replaced for a long time, unless they start sagging. they aren't really something that goes bad except maybe after a lot of miles, i've had several cars over 200,000 miles on original springs, no problems. As far as shocks go, i thought the factory ones should last around 100,000 mile sso I don't know how much improvement you'll see by replacing them. if you do i would go with koni's so that you can have a range of optional settings in case you decide you would like to lower a bit/increase stiffness in the future. You could set them on full soft for an oem like ride and still have the option of changing it if you want
