as far as aftermarket radiators go, I am sure there is one out there someplace, I know fluidyne makes a bunch of "universal" applications, all you would need is the right outer dimensions. Has anyone ever heard of water wetter? From my experience that stuff has worked pretty well, I know a few turbo honda guys and a few guys running major set ups on MR2's and a few TT Supras, you can add it to your coolant or you can add it to just straight water and it wont freeze or overheat. as prevent maint I can see this product being pretty useful to our cooling systems. Any of you guys that have the the TB coolant bypass, do you guys have the same cooling issues?

93 legend

Mine is 93 Legend. Its done 165K. It has been well maintained all these 9 years. Recently (six months ago) I noticed the temp gauge acting funny on cold start. Took it to the Honda dealer service center, after changing a bunch of stuff (and $1250 later on a second visit), they finally found the small leak. They suggested replacing engine (parts and labor ~$4500.00).

Took it to an independent Japanese car mechanic and they advises against pouring more money into it.

They suggested checking coolant level every 2-3 weeks from now onwards till the end of life.

Actually about 262k now

But yeah, no coolant loss, no oil burning whatsoever. I've gone 3,000 miles on this change and the dipstick still registers just below the top dot. I'm going to send an oil sample to Blackstone Laboratories for an analysis (thx for the link Searchin4acoupe) just because I'm curious what they find out. It only costs $20 and provides lots of interesting information.

http://www.blackstone-labs.com

FWIW, I use (and have only ever used) only Honda Type 2 coolant.

Only 85000 miles, orig HG. Rad replaced due to crack at throttle cable bracket at 60,000. Always used Honda coolant, changed every 2 years. No sign of trouble so far.

I think what took mine out was a AFTERMARKET WATERPUMP / TB change I did at around 100k miles. The aftermarket failed engine overheated a few times just eough to start the small leak...changed the WATERPUMP / TB to OEM ACURA PARTS no problems since --
MORAL OF STORY : dont go generic on important engine parts or you pay more in the future!
^^^ update on my response from last year ...finally blew the headgasket at 190-192K that gasket was rotten to the core when I finally got to see it in person.
