How to remove the master window switch

I have a 1994 Legend L sedan. The power mirrors do not work completely. I can control them in a side-to-side motion, but they will not move when trying to adjust in an up-down motion. I bought a replacement master switch, but quickly found out that the power mirror control unit is seperate.

In any case, is there a way to pop off the master switch assembly off of the interior door handle? Or do I have to take off the entire door panel?

Very easy as long as both are sedan or coupe switches.

pretty easy, did the woodgrain in my sedan so had to take all that apart.

Driver's door, take off all screws (under armrest too)

Pop clips off starting on bottom, work around

Lift the panel off the door/undo electrical connectors

Take the armrest portion off the door (screws here - also did my leather inserts while i was in here)

Once you have the armrest portion off the door, you can see what screws are holding the switch panel in then you can individually take off the window/mirror switches.

Hope that helped!

If you are handy (and patient) with a soldering iron, you can repair the switch. I actually did this on my main drivers side switch. All functions work again, including automatic window down. Cost me about 15 dollars in electrical parts/supplies. Just need a speciality electronics store, and that shouldnt be hard to find in the bay. Just thought id offer another alternative...

are you sure it's the switch and not the motor?
