I joined the LEGEND gang!!! (pics inside)

Hello ladies and gents!! I feel like a little kid in a candy store. (although I will turn 36 this Saturday) Just picked up a '92 LS Coupe with 107K on the clock.

For those who don't like to read long post, scroll further down for pics and a link to more pics, if you like.

On to my story.
I have a Nissan Murano (the wife's) and HAD a '98 GTP Coupe (slightly modified).
The GTP had 152,000 miles and pretty much was DONE. Everything was falling apart so it was time to get rid of it before it left me stranded.

I thought about getting a brand new car but the wife put a stop to that real quick. We're buying a new house in three years so we agreed that my budget would be no more than $6,000 but preferably less.

I have spent the last three months researching the cars that I was interested in and test drove more than a dozen vehicles. I would go on my lunch break, after work and on the weekends.

After all the research, the two vehicles (and makes) that stood out as being the most reliable, and could handle 150-200k miles, came out to be Lexus and Acura. It was the SC400 or 300 against the Legend Coupe.

In my search, it turned out that I could find many more SCs and had a harder time finding an coupe Legends. I test drove a '92 SC300 5 speed, '93 SC300 Auto, and 2 SC400s. I pretty much had my mind made up (this morning) until I found a '92 LS Coupe.

It took one test drive for me to be convinced that the Acura was the car for me. The LS is more comfortable and feels more roomier than the SC although the specs for both vehicles wouldn't indicate that.

I will say this. For a '92, Acura sure hit-it-on-the-head, with this car. I can't believe some of the features, for a 92.

*memory heated seats
*heated mirrors
*rear windows that go down
*courtesy lights
and I'm sure there are more.

I took some pics a little while ago and the car needs a good clay and wax. I'll be doing that this weekend.

Well, that's it for tonight. I look forward to chatting with you guys and hopefully meeting up with some of the people from Illinois.

My Legend Pics
These were in my parking spot. Once she's clayed and waxed, I'll find a better location and snap some more.

Well, there sure is a difference in power. My car wasn't stock either. It had a smaller super charger pulley, K&N cone, exhaust and a few other things.

The TORQUE is the biggest difference but the Acura still feels better on the highway. It probably has more to do with suspension, weight of the car, etc.

I don't know all the details of the legend, yet, but I felt the GTP was a fat pig.

I don't miss the power. It's a strange thing.....when I was driving the GTP, I was always agressive but when I drive the Murano, I'm more calm. The Acura isn't sluggish but it doesn't want to make me drive the same way that I used to.

I guess I'm getting old now. :p

This Legend is the 16th car I've had since I first got my license.

Out of the 16, five were black and you know how much work that takes.

Right after I got the car, this afternoon, I drove straight over the Advance Auto and picked up a Meguiars (sp?) Clay Kit, Leather Cleaner/Conditioner, and Detail Spray wax, for those in-between weeks where I don't wax.

It's funny, my last car (GTP) was black and I swore I would never do it again...........well.......I guess I shouldn't swear......

BTW, I've been searching this forum for weeks now trying to read up on everything I can to soak up some knowledge.....and you and your dad have some beautiful coupes. Good work!!!

My oldest son just turned 15 and he's already asking for my car.

Looks like I'll be looking for a second by next summer.

Well, thank you. Five out of 16 being black. I shudder at the thought. My first car was black and I had it painted silver after an accident. I will NEVER own a black car.

I love new owners! The Legend is an excelent car! You got a very good one at that. Start with the maintance now. I would have it inspected for cooling system, water pump(Suppose to be done at 90K), timing belt(Same 90K), and a compression test on all cylinders. After that start changing all the fluids and brakes. Then you can start really playing. Enjoy!

Later!

damm can I have your legend! nice and clean one you got there. the legend will spoil you, because the thing never breaks down, I tend to neglect mines and not take it to get parts after old ones have worn out.. damm thing still keeps rolling. funny how when I had a payment on this thing years ago I'd jump on it to keep it things right, anyway enjoy.
