Its planning time, suggestions appreciated
Hey everyone,
So here goes. Bear with the length, as there is a lot going on here. I just had my car painted emerald green + smoke black for a nice exterior paint color. I'm also getting, as we speak, most of my suspension components replaced. Future projects are. 1. Coming up with a color scheme for my interior (I'm replacing carpet, seats and potentially adding a dash kit) 2. Coming up with a color scheme for my added components (i.e. sway bars, strut bar, calipers). I'm thinking of getting all of these new components the same color to give the car a nice touch. Current stock interior is beige on black trim i.e. beige carpet, seats etc..black dash and a few touches here and there that are black. How do you guys think it would look if I put in black leather seats front/back and kept the tan carpet and other tan trim components? should I just put in black carpet too? What type of dash kit would look good? There is a ton of kits, with fake wood, real wood, carbon fiber..you name it. I'm leaning towards the real wood mohagany or the brushed aluminum. I'd pair either the wood or aluminum with a matching shift nob and ebrake cover (possibly), and anything else that may look nice to match inside and thats possible. Then finally, what about the component color for the parts. Not to sure if I should match it with my exterior color, or if I should just do something like a nice dark red. Since the exterior color is pretty much dark and looks black at night, not sure thats gonna be the way to go. I'm also figuring I can not use just any type of paint for these parts, but that a special heat resistant paint or otherwise laminate coat is gonna be needed. So I appreciate your thoughts / ideas. it's pretty hard to play around with this stuff without actually putting it in your car first. However , once I order everything there is no going back, especially when it comes to interior components bc I can just always repaint the exterior parts (at a higher cost unfortunately). Here is a link to a dash kit company if it helps at all. I also suppose I could post some pics, but I have yet to figure out how to compress my pics of my car to something small enough that will load on here - Acura Legend 91-95 2 Door Manual

Post some pics of the exterior and interior of the car as it sits right now. Everyone has different taste, so go with what you like. Since you spend all of your time behind the wheel I would not cut cost too much on interior stuff. I put a carbon dash overlay for about $100 and it did not fit right and look cheap. The 2nd one cost me $200 - $300 and looks great.
It sounds like you have the same interior color compo as my Legend. I kept the tan carpet and got dark mats for the winter. The problem with light carpet is it show the dirt easy, so you have to keep on top of cleaning. Here is my interior - I did a two-tone on the seats and the shift knob. The center of the seats is the same color as the upper dash surround. ![]() Dash overlay kit: ![]() Last edited by anton3655 : 07-13-08 at 12:22 AM. |

If you want contrast and to stand out Red calipers might look good with the green exterior. You could also use this to paint other items. I used it to repaint my calipers when I installed new rotors. I used silver since my car is grey and I did not want contrast. The paint holds up well over time. ![]() |

Does anyone know how they color those interior plastics from the factory? I'm talking with my upholsterer and he is saying that painting them is a bad idea, since eventually you will scuff it and the old color would come through. (I'm wanting to do a color change)
I guess when they are being made the dye is mixed in with the plastic, or otherwise its treated?
