JDM KA8 folding mirrors installed
After a long waiting period my friend has time to install my folding mirrors. He is very professional with ten year experience by a honda dealership. the installation took long time from 9:30AM to 4:00PM. I can only help him with removing and installing the interior parts. he said the installation was not so hard. He was able to install the 2 additional wires into the factory harness so we can use the stock plug on both sides. door panels, glove box, lower dash panel, center console and radio needs to be removed to run the wires through the dashboard. he installed a switch button from an alarm system. If I can find a better one I'll replace it. We decided to have a separate switch instead of connecting to the stock alarm system. now I can fold the mirrors when the iginiton is on. He installed 2 fuse for the mirrors. We found a good place for the relay it has a metal bracket so he could just bolt on. Then we have to swap the glass. Two "clips" holds the lower part of the glass we used a flat head screw driver to pry it out. But there is a strong glue layer which holds the glass. You have to be careful not to break the glass. The RHD and LHD glass has the same mounting points so they are interchangable. The housing and the "base" which is bolted onto the door is similar also. The bad thing: I was happy until I realized that the glass adjustment is "limited". I think the adjustment capabilities is the mirror image of our mirrors. I'm sure that the interior of the mirrors are different. (Picture attached.) But cannot tell it exactly my english is not so good. Now I can use the mirrors when both of them are set in their "outer" position. It's not perfect but not dangerous on the roads. I can see both sides good but I cannot adjust the mirrors 100% to the desired position I like. Project stage two: tomorrow I will try to remove that part from my spare LHD mirror which moves the mirror. then I will try to install it into the jdm one. the folding motor is a separate unit and it seem like that the shape of the "movement motor" is the same. So finally everything needs to be swapped from the LHD mirror into the RHD mirror. then I will be 100% satisfied. Notes: car is dirty it was raining yesterday... mirrors won't be painted until everything works correct. And he wired my usdm 3rd brake light up also. ![]() Please enjoy the pictures and the video. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() He is the man: ![]() ![]() Wiring diagram we used: ![]() Video 1min 10mb: ![]() |

A point worth checking out:
On the mirror that you're not getting the desired mirror adjustment....try to swap the BASE of the JDM and USDM mirror. The BASE ONLY. If the base can be swapped out, I bet you will find that you get the adjustment you want. That goes for swapping out 4dr mirrors, also. If you can change the base, do it. This is just a guess (but an educated one...) so it may end up being a waste of your time but I think it will actually solve the ''JDM blind spot'' problem. |

Today I have time to check the inside differencies of the mirrors.
I include the picture of my spare left mirror. The glass adjusting motor is the same on LHD and RHD mirrors. Part number is the same 3187L the "base" where the adjusting motor is mounted is different. but this part cannot be changed to the LHD one because it's one big part together with the folding motor and with the "feet" which is mounted to the door. This modification would be a big custom work. But I put 2-2 small washers under the adjusting motor inner two screws to place the inner side a little bit out. ![]() I think everything is figured out for the jdm mirrors. ![]() |
