just bought jdm console!

I just got it off ebay, but soon after i realized the problem at hand - not only does the heated seat trim not fit (because of the e-brake), but the console itself is different because of this. On our usdm Legends there's a lot more wood at the bottom where it meets near the switches. The jdm wood center console is a lot shorter because it has the extra switch piece! Kinda hard to explain...

Here's my options -

1) cut the jdm switch cover to fit around the e-brake. I wanna do this, but i'd hate to ruin such a rare jdm piece. Plus i don't know how it would turn out.

2) sell it

3) let it sit in my room as extra parts

I won it for $75, so its not THAT big a loss, but its still a lot of money. Its in perfect condition, it looks really nice compared to my L trim. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone ever made it work? I feel pretty dumb for not thinking about this before i bought it, but it was an impulse buy - it was "buy it now," and consoles rarely sell that way. Like i said, i'd like to cut the piece but I'm affraid to. That piece is pretty hard to come by from what I've heard on the boards. I wish we had a foot e-brake! I'm kinda freakin' out now. What should I do?

if you have the right tools, you can cut it to fit around the ebrake no problem.

If you're not comfortable cutting it, maybe you can take it somewhere to get it done professionally. May be worth it, but not sure what that would cost. I bet it would look great.

Just post the auction link. If you don't want to, just right click on the images, choose "Properties," copy the image address (URL), and paste it in a post here between these brackets (minus the asterisks):

Very cool - the middle button is some type of Dual AC Control.

Yeah, I've never heard of that a/c button before. I wonder if its for a dual climate control or something. Do usdm Legends have any use for it? ...and I don't have heated seats but I'm thinking of installing them in the future.

after looking at my car's setup, now i'm wondering this - how does the switch cover attach near the armrest compartment? I know the entire jdm center console is different, i mean the part with the armrest/compartment.

and if i do have it cut, it wouldn't be rounded like the rest of the wood console. Does anyone know how this is gonna look on a usdm legend? I've seen the pics of the jdm Legends, but i havent seen any on ours yet.

I wouldnt cut it. If tou really want it try to find a way to get the full JDM console and remove your e-brake.

how much would that cost? not just the labor, but exporting any parts from england or japan. it's not like he even had a source for this. he bought this off ebay.

take your US console

1. cut off a side as straight as possible.
2. cut the JDM to fit
3. glue the sides that you cut to the side of the jdm that was cut. if you need to sand down the strip to line up. you might want to cut it so it's bigger, then sand down till it's perfect.

this should give you that round part that you'd miss from cutting it. if you really want to make it perfect...also cut your console (where the usdm seat heaters are) so the wood matches up (same level), since the current console matches with the usdm shifter console.

I always wanted that piece and saw it on Ebay, and knew that it would not fit. I was gonna buy it too, but then I figured it would be just another Legend part sitting in my room. LOL.

Nice, rare, piece though.
