Thumbs up Just Got My Rear Tranny Mount Replaced-Great Experience With New Mechanic!!

Well, today I got my tranny mount replaced at a shop recomended by Milano6, LegendC, and I believe Magicscoupe has also been there. Overall it was a great experience. I asked to see the old tranny mount. They showed me and it was cracked in two places!! I have not driven a lot, just the drive home, but so far the ride and shifting feel smoother.

I also got my oil changed while I was there. Total cost for tranny mount, labor and oil change was $293.55.

There was only 1 little problem though. After I started my Legend I noticed that it sounded louder. I went back and and said "I may be crazy, but my Legend sounds louder" The mechanic jumped up and said "Your not crazy-I just realized I forgot to tighten the bolts on the cat. I'm very sorry." The Boss apologized and joking said "That's what you get for being the 8:00AM appointment on a Monday morning before he's had his coffee."

Overall it was a great experience and I HIGHLY recomend them to anyone in Washington State.

Oh yeah, they also said my Legend was beautiful.

My theory is that there are lots of mechanics who are car guys, and when they see a car that is out of the ordinary, and well maintained, they probably give it that little bit extra.

In choosing a shop, I think it's good idea to pick a shop where the owner is the guy doing the work. If he screws up too much, he'll be outta business.

That, and these guys specialize in Hondas and Acuras. Also-the boss was not doing the work-he was at the front desk, but the mechanic doing the work seemed like he knew what he was doing. (aside for the cat bolts-LOL)

Sounds like a good price. I wish I could find a good mechanic in town that know about our cars. I don't want just anyone working on my car, so they gotta know their $hit.

Yeah, these guys know Acura. There were Integras with no motors in them outside, parts everywhere. There was another Legend there off to the side, it was Honda and Acura heaven.

I just replaced mine myself this weekend, it took me about 3 hours but I was kind of f'ed up on pain pills because I messed up my back. What a with out a lift, I only had jack stands that raise it up about 6-8 inchs, with a bad back it was tight. None the less it is DUN!!! If you have the time and the tools (no special tools needed) then I would save the money and DIY. But you did get a heck of a deal.

91lsman, how much smoother is the shift now with the new tranny mounts? Do you feel a "clunk" when u put it from say P to R or D4?

My buddy's 97 TL is so damn smooth and those TL uses the same Type I auto tranny as ours.

oh wait, do u have manual or auto? lol

Yes, I have an automatic. It is smoother during the shift from P to R or D4. It's not perfect, but it's smoother. There is no clunking.

Are they OEM mounts being used?

My uncle is a mechanic, so i can probably ask him to get my some new mounts for a good price. I'll do the work myself though since i'm so mechanically inclined

It's only one mount-the rear tranny mount. And yes it is the OEM replacement. This shop uses all OEM parts.

I got my mount for $138+ S/H from A&H Motors.

www.ahmotor.com

And thanx for the comps on the wheels, it took me forever to pick which ones to buy, and I'm happy with them, until it come time to clean them, to many little dirt traps but it worth it.

Sorry I didn't type that. My browser crashed the first time I typed this post, when I typed it again I left that part out-oops.

It's called Auburn City Imports. It's located in Auburn.

Here is their website: http://www.auburncityimports.com/

The waiting room is kinda small (2 chairs by the front desk-LOL) but they do good work.
