Just Picked Up My '91 LS Coupe-Beautiful
Well I just picked up my Legend LS and brought it home. I am one happy owner. I used this forum to research before buying, there is lots of info here, thanks to all that contribute. I have a 1986 RX-7 and spent lots of time on a board for that car. Looks like I have a new board!
Anyway, here's the scoop on my Legend, this appears to be a great buy. Maroon with tan leather, new tires, new battery, calipers and rotors. Its got 120,000 miles and, don't laugh, the owner was 82. His son handled the sale, his dad bought this car new in 1991 and serviced it religously. He gave me a stack of service receipts a mile high. Everything works. The only minuses are a rip in the driver side bolster and some dents around the body. Also, only one small rust near the bottom of the fenderwell. Even the muffler is brand new. He was asking $5950 or best offer. I started at 4,500 and we met at 5,200. I believe it was a good deal. It is one clean car. I will post some pics as soon as I wax up and get some taken. I do have a few questions someone might chime in on. The car came with a service manual I've quickly breezed through, it does not have a changer but I don't see it being wired for one. I have found all the threads on adding a changer and I want to put in an Alpine CHAS634 with the 2 cables required. Tomorrow I will actually look in the trunk for the cable. From what I see all these cars were wired for it even if the changer wasn't put in. Am I wrong here? I'd like some input on these "iggee" seat covers if someone has first hand experience. I saw the black/tan ones he sells and wonder how well they match. I was only going to get the front seats, but if the match is not too good I would also get the rear. Anyway, anyone that can comment, please do. I am also considering the ones from leatherseats.com, I know they could be better, but also more expensive. I will be putting in the clear corners as I think they update the front end some. Saw lots of examples here, it really helped. I have found a wealth of things I will probably be doing since I have looked around alot and found lots of good ideas. I was planning on spending somewhere in the neighborhood of $800-900 in the next few weeks, which will consist of changer, mats, seats, cleaning/waxing supplies, oil/filter, and probably some 'Green Diamond" snow tires for the upcoming winter. I have these on the RX and they are unreal in the snow. I drove right past 4 wheeler SUV's last winter like they were stuck. They contain carbide chips embedded within the rubber and continually fall out and reappear as the rubber wears down. Along with a partial snow tread pattern on some of the tire they can actually be run year round. They are actually like driving with studded tires. With front wheel drive you have to put them on all around. Another plus is that you have very positive stopping power. These things go, and stop on ice as well. Well, sorry for the long post, but its a new car to me and I am excited to get to the license bureau tomorrow morning and change my plates. I took the day off and will spend the day cleaning/babying the new ride. |

Congratulations on the purchase and welcome to the forums! Make yourself at home, and be sure to post up some pictures of your new "Ack"quisition after you get it all spit-shined. I can't offer much input on your CD changer question (I have an aftermarket HU) but if you're debating about seat cover options, I say go all out for a leatherseats.com kit or something similar. It's worth it. Enjoy!

Definitely go with the upholstery replacement like Tyson said. I believe it may be possible to just order the pieces you need (front seats for example) rather than the whole kit. Would probably be pretty inexpensive that way. Also, you are correct, all G2 Legends are prewired for the CD changer.

welcome to the boards. I say like the rest have said.....If you got $800-900 to spend, spend it on a new leather interior from katzkin. you will be very pleased in the end.
