Kumho Tires anyone?
I'm getting ready to change tires on my Legend. Nothing fancy. Just need four nice riding/quiet tires. The Tire Rack has Kumho 716s for $41 each. My local retailer here has them for $53 installed including balancing. These tires have great reviews from some Legend owners on the Tire Rack website. Was wondering if anybody here on the forum has ever tried these tires and what's your opinion? Man, it's gonna be tough just getting past the name, though.

Legend no more

I have the 711s (or maybe 712s), and they squeel like pigs in the dry, but are great in the wet. Not bad overall, but certainly not a performance tire.

i had em on my legend.. i changed from dunlops to them and i will never buy them again. yes, they are cheap, yes, they do greta in wet weather.. but imho, they kinda take some of the luxury out of the luxury car by making the ride more bumpy and much more noisy.

I've used the Kumho Supra 712 tires on both my BMW 325 with 18" rims and my stock NSX rims. They are cheap, last long, have pretty darn good wet weather traction, and acceptable dry weather traction as long as you are not acting like Speed Racer. They were more than acceptable for my daily commuting driving. I hear the Yokohama ES100 tires are better over all though and also a bit more expensive. If these tires are just for daily driving any maybe some minor spirited driving I'd recomed them. If you are planning on doing some serious spirited street driving or even some track events I wouldn't get them. So, it really depends on what you are looking for in a tire.
Also, if your only reference is the stock OEM tires than they are much better. |

I'm driving on Kumho 716s right now. All-weather grip is pretty good, and they ride just as well as the OEM Michelins that were on the car when I bought it. The 716s are really conservative tires; they're H-rated and they make howling noises easily when pressed hard. Performance is still about the same as the Michelins though. Also, it's really CHEAP so if you're pressed for cash, it's a pretty good tire to carry you over until you can afford something better.
However, they do NOT last very long ~ at least not how I drive. I've had these tires for a whole eight months and they're already down to the wear bars (people coming to the SoCal meet, don't laugh ). The sidewalls are not particularly stiff (then again, the Michelins weren't either) and as good as these tires are, I doubt I'll get them again. Falken makes the Ziex-512 for even cheaper than the Kumho 716 and it looks to be built better, so that's where my next paycheck is going.

i had the kumho ecsta supra's (215/45/zr17) and i thought they were okay..the ride was rough in my opinion and they were pretty loud. i think the falken ziex's im using are much quieter and gives a softer ride.
