Legend Vs. CL/TL

Out of curiosity, how difficult would it be to get a 95' coupe, auto Legend keep up with an 01’ CL Type-S? Basically, what would one have to do and is it possible within reasonable cost to stay with and beat the CL-S in a race?

Well i raced a auto 02 TL in my auto 92 legend sedan it was a good race he of course beat me but not by much only like a car and a half. he had headers and exhaust. I just have CAI, highflow cat, and aftermarket crappy muffler . So if i could get full exhuast i think i woulda had a better chance maybe. But you have a coupe i think it's a little lighter so you might have a better chance. If you get some performance parts.

We slowly but surely we are getting more aftermarket support. Give it time, and we'll be able to take em. I'd think a moderately modded 6-spd coupe should be able to hang with a CL-S auto.

Oh, I know a Type-S will own a stock Legend in the back and sideways, that’s why I'm asking how a Legend can be made to stay with and surpass the CL-S.

Super simple: Nitrous. A simple Zex 75 shot or NOS 60 shot for about 500 bucks. Dont forget to buy a $30 Legend intake on ebay so you can plumb the nozzle into it. The filter that it comes with sucks so dont even use one when you want to race, just stay clear of dust or water.

Theres no other single mod that will get you to smoke him faster than a Nitrous kit for the money.

off the line i've noticed the legend will get the tl-s/cl-s by about a half car, maybe full car length (lightly modded legend, lightly modded cl-s), but after second gear hits, they pull away hard. im "guessing" its because of their weight/gearing. i'd agree with dv8 that the best thing you can do for cheapest is get teh NAWZZZZZZ!!! make sure to set it up correctly cuz things can go really wrong if not done right!

I own both of these cars. 92 legend and a 2002 TL-S and it is fast. Upper rpm it really shines. Almost like the old 4 barrel carb when the secondaries open you hear and feel the difference.

I will say this, owning both cars I know the potential of each. The CL-S has the ability to get an extra Comptech Supercharger. with this, and other mods... it'll smoke a Legend even with mods and NOS. The fastest known CL that I know of ran a low 13s. However, that is not assisted by NOS.

Both cars are plagued with poor aftermarket support. However, the Legend's Aftermarket support is continuing to grow. Much faster than the CL's.

Give it time, you will be able to beat a CL even with all of the mods. However, right now, even a stock CL-S is more than a match for the Legend in a race.

That could happen... however, your head gasket may blow before his tranny goes.
