Reason: for got to post everthing
my car does the same thing but only at rpm's lower then 1,500, i looked into it and asked a friend at a local acura dealership and he said that the noise is usually from the wearing down of the rocker arms

ive been thinking about doing the rockers and lifters i should have done them when i did the heads last week o well thats the beauty of being a tech i do everything my self. i just thought that i wouldnt have any issues with them because before i did the head gaskets there were no ticking noises just that the car was loading up with oil at idle and i didnt like that.
don't blame you...if its just the rocker arms though thats not to bad of a fix. are the spec's of the two heads identicle? that could be an issue just the slightest difference will make a big difference thats the one thing i have learned working on my legend
when i finished my HG i got ticking... goes away after a week or so. im sure if you machined your heads and got everything cleaned up good its all dried up and the lifters need to settle back in. i just switched to some mobile1 to get stuff more slippery
Our 95 Legend has developed a ticking noise and I'm assuming its a lifter. The local mechanic stated big $$$$ to repair it, in fact he suggested a 35K used engine, he gets $1,100 to install it plus the cost of the engine.
If its a stuck lifter, it can't be that difficult to repair. Anyone have any experience repairing a stuck lifter? Anything I should be concerned about?

Doesn't have to be a lifter causing it. Especially following a blown head. Its skipped over in the head gasket DIY but the oil orifices are very important.
@Lee
If you are going to put another engine in it, why not just ignore the noise and use a slightly heavier oil? If you are passing emissions why spend the $ on a used engine is what im saying. If you got that kind of money to spend, lend me a couple bucks.
Heres my destroyed oil orifice. It looked fine from the surface but when i pulled it the o-ting was completely rotted and the orifice itself was in bad shape. It looked fine from the top of the head mating surface, since it was bathed in oil. Glad i pulled it to check or id have to tear a head right back off.

sometimes a ticking lifter is as easy to fix as adding a cleaner/solvent type oil additive to your oil and let it clean it out while you drive. Marvel Mystery Oil is a brand that people have sworn works for this, IDK but it has been on the market for a very long time, must be good for something.

Just finished my HG work. While the heads were off I have the heads reground, PnP, tested, valves worked over, etc. Been getting some loud knocking from the passenger side. Best I can determine is a rocker arm not getting enough or no oil. Sounds like only one or two rocker arms for now.
Here it is suggested that everything will settle in. Is there any way to determine if this is the case or if there is a more serious issue like the oil not be distributed at all through the head?
Also I'm using Mobile1 5w-30 - could this oil be too light?
Should I try an additive and see if the issue clears itself out? Otherwise I'm thinking of stripping everything down again, pulling the timing belt from that cam, pulling the rocker assembly, then trying to find the oil blockage in the assembly. Don't know which way to go.

noisy lifters
well in my case i would suggest u use mobil 1 to get everything nice and slippery and drive the car thats what i did and the noise went away i think everything just has to break itself back in if the lifter noise does not go away then replace them but i did not have to goodluck. o
