Unhappy light smoking from the engine bay!

hey all,

havent posted in QUITE A WHILE!! sorry. hoping to get some money to be more into it again. haha. BUUUTTT my problem is a light gray smoke coming from my engine bay. its the first time it has happened. here is what could have led to the current situation.
1. got on it kinda hard this morning for a good 5 minutes, no more than usual
2. ran my AC pretty hard all day.
3. about 200 miles past my oil change
4. havent changed spark plugs...EVER! (145k+miles)

i have a 91 Legend Coupe. any help is great help. Thanks all. Hopefully its just a belt or some spilt oil or SOMETHING. even though this has never happened. Thanks again for everything guys!!

Hows the valve seals on the valve cover? See any oil on there?

+1... More then likely it's the valve cover gaskets which need to be replaced.

Also you should really think about changing the plugs and doing a tune up. It'll only help you all around. Your car will definately run better and be more fuel efficient!

Tune-up pretty much is spark plugs, distributor and wires, rotor inside distributor, fuel pump if its responding weak, oil changes, oil filter, air filter, PCV valve cleaning. I think there's more, but mostly worry about the spark plugs related. But, like I said, check your valve covers for any oil leakage.

Lol not as bad as you think. You say you've NEVER changed a spark plug tho so I would recommend the works. Plugs, gaskets, oil, oil filter, maybe send in your injectors for a late Spring clean.. All of the above done, less than 200 but well needed and deserved, you love your Legend right?

If you haven't done it..

I would replace the following

Spark Plugs
Spark Plug Wires with the cap/rotor
Fuel Filter
PCV Valve
Air Filter

As for the oil, it's prob just leaking onto the exhaust and burning off.. do you smell anything odd when you see that smoke?

smoke from engine bay makes me think valve cover seals too. possibly a few drops of oil got on your exhaust manifolds and burned up. hard to say for sure though. check oil levels first off, then run it a bit in park or neutral and have a look around for leaks or where the smoke is coming from.

Since you have a G2 ignore the comments about distributor, rotor, and wires as you don't have any of those.

I posted on here about smoke and stink from under my hood awhile back. It stopped though after dripping and smoking just once. I think it was a inner axle boot and havent addressed it as I will just slap in a new axle sometime soon.

is it possible you have maybe experienced the same???
