Question Looking Into Buying A 99 Tl W/102k Miles.good Idea Or Bad Idea?

the dealer wants 10k and i can get a warranty too.

good idea or bad idea?

is there any way to rewind the clock once i get it? i know its illegal but just to fake myself out like i'm not really buying a car with all those miles?

your thoughts on the car...

I wouldn't touch a used TL because of the trans problems. Those problems make our head gasket issues look like a picnic.

I wouldn't trade the Legend for a 96-03 TL. The Legend is more unique, and I think the front ends on the 99-02 models are weak looking. The bigger grille and different lights on the 03 (maybe the 02 as well, I dont know the TL years) is an improvement, IMO. In general the styling is bland, although I like the Type S cars with the factory aero kit. The Legend has better lines and pretty much the same features minus navigation and a coupe odds and ends. I would also never buy a car with transmission problems.

ditto, and btw, dont mess with the odometer, cuz then your car will forever be branded TMU on the title [true mileage unknown]... no1 will ever buy a used car thats TMU, unless its super cheap, also its considered fraudelent as you said.

BAD IMO

Yes, there is an extended warranty from Acura on the tranny, but do you really want to drive down the road wondering when the tranny will go?

As many Acuras and Hondas I have owned, I would NOT touch a TL....If looking for a comparable car, I would look at Nissan/Infiniti (2000 model or later) The Nissan Maxima or Infiniti I-30 are much better than the TL, more reliable, quicker/faster, better standard factory warrantee, and less expensive. I just bought my son a 2000 I30 with only 48K miles and paid $14.5. It has a 50K mile 4 yr. bumper to bumper warrantee and a 6 yr. 72K drive train factory warrantee. The engine is always voted in the top ten engines in the world....3.0L with 227HP and similar torque. It will kick ass

Personally, I would have to agree with the cat who said to get an I30. If you want something more lux and less sport, go ES300, but i would stay away from an Linc LS, just cause of its unproven reliability. With an I30 or ES300, you practically can't go wrong.

IMO after driving a Legend the Lincoln LS would be a big let down. Have you ever noticed how cheap the interior is in those things?

offtopic question...:
its about the odometer.
as some of you know, my temp guage reads wrong. what do i have to do if i decided to change my cluster from a diff car?
some mechanic told me that some shops rewind/ff the odometer to match my current one.
and i remember someone posting that they can tell if the odometer is rolled, just by looking at it...how?
thanks in advance
