Hydraulic valve lifters can only be replaced - no adjustments

na not a stupid quesiton, thanks for helping me trouble shoot but that was the first thing i crossed out of my list. i change oil/oil filter every 3kmiles and use only full syn. i usually flush an extra quart of fresh oil, i know some may say its overkill but i pamper this car.

make sure you are not using the wrong oil weight...use 5W-30.....a heavy oil doesn't allow the lifters to pump up as quickly and they can get noisy. You can use an oil system detergent cleaner like CD2 or Rislone....these will free up gummy or dirty lifters pretty well if that is the problem.....toss a can in at oil change. If you do have a frozen or stuck lifter that doesn't come free after using a cleaner, then you may need to replace one. By the way, a little ticking isn't really hurting anything other than your pride.....a completely collapsed or stuck lifter would eventually damage the cam, but it would make one heck of a lot of noise (rapping, not ticking).
