Maintenance required light

Is this triggered by anything other than mileage?

It's that little green/orange light located to the left of the steering.

I think if it stays on (orange)you might wanna take it to mechanic just to make sure verything is ok...stick your key in the little hole right beneath it to reset the color back to green..

to my knowledge the maint. required light is triggered by mileage, it changes to red after 7,500 miles, and shortly before it turns red, it turns yellow

Yes, it is connected to the odometer wheel just as the trip meter is connected to the odometer wheel. Only differnce is that instead of numbers, it has a colored sticker stip on the wheel that turns to yellow at around 2500-4000 miles, then to red at around 7500 miles. It it just a reminder that you have driven 7500 miles since the last time you reset the wheel. It is useless unless you remember to reset it back to 0, or green in this case. It is also uselss if your kids or friends reset it too early as well.

Re: Maintenance required light

Maintenance Required Light
-----------------------------------
The color changer, means that you traveled aproxiamtely X amount of (Km / Miles). The colored wheel, which is attched on the trip odometer, and odomter will change from green to yellow in about 4K miles, then to red in about 7.5K miles. Reseting this colored wheels is the same like the reseting on your trip meter. It really has no direct meaning toward maintenence, unless you reset that wheel every time you do a service. If you did a service, and failed to reset the wheel, then the color indicator will change color to early, and make you think you need another service as indicated by the (KM/Miles) traveled. If you reset that wheel in the middle of a service interval, then it will start again from
full green, and take longer to change color, thus over shooting the desired miles for service. After this, a reminder that a service might will be coming up soon.

BTW, the slot is right under that indicator on the edge of the
cluster trim.
