Manual Transmission Legends

If you hate how the shifting mechanism is.
Change out the manual transmission fluid.

I went from hating my 6speed to wanting to drive everywhere.

Oh yeah that definitely made a difference in my car too. Then I figured out I have a very slow leak in my clutch master, and after topping that off that helped immensely too. but now I know I have to change it eventually...

One of the things I'd like to do is change the MTF. Every now and then I'll have trouble getting into first, even at a dead stop. My car has 81k on it and I'm guessing the fluid has never been changed.

my legend never shifted easily when it was cold. I replaced the fluid with honda manual transmission fluid a couple months ago, and it's been a little bit smoother. anybody had more success with other fluids in the tranny than that? I know alot of people use regular 5w-30 oil in there...

I have that same problem with my clutch master cylinder (slow leak). It had almost all leaked out when I bought the car, and the tech said he found a crack. I topped it off when I bought it, and it hardly went down half a centimeter since then... so there's no way Im replacing anything yet.

It still doesnt shift as easy as my mom's saturn 5spd, but most hondas I've driven have had that stiff feel to them.

what did you put in yours 30?

Honda Manual Transmission fluid.

I have reason to believe my mechanic that did my 60k service put motor oil in there. Yuck.
