In the market!
First of all, I am new to this site.
I am currently in the market to purchase a G2 Legend. I am a longtime owner of Honda/Acura products, mainly Civic's, Accord's, and Integra's. My knowledge of the Legend's is very low. Are there any things to watch out for with Legend's? Problem areas?? Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks! |

Yeah, the Vtec can kick in kind of harsh so be careful when flooring it.
Just pulling your leg homie. In case you didnt see it there is a thread ironically at the beginning of this particular forum, called Overheating. There also is another thread called FAQ. This stands for FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS. |

You'll be quite pleased if you find a G2 Legend in decent shape. As with any other car, condition is your primary motivator so make sure it hasn't been in an accident and looks beautiful inside and out and runs smooth and fast. Hard 1-2 shifts are normal, I'll explain in a minute...
Then make sure the car doesn't overheat (ideally, get one from a long time owner and ask them if it ever has overheated). You can have the engine tested for hydrocarbons in the cooling system easily and it's well worth it. The most common problems on Legends are blown head gaskets (usually a result of a poorly maintained cooling system that eventually gives up somehow and overheats the block, causing the head gasket to seep and creating all sorts of mayhem and strange behaviors) and bad rear transmission mounts (it's a really solid transmission and the mounts just break, it leads to harsh shifts, particularly from park to reverse and reverse to drive - and an abnormally harsh 1-2 shift). Brake master cylinders and radiators go bad too. Also, make sure it's had a timing belt and water pump replaced in the last 90k miles or 7 years. If not, it's no biggy but it's something you'll want to take care of right away and it's a pricey tune up (assume ~$1500 to replace belts, water pump, hoses, spark plugs, filters, etc) so factor it into your offer on the vehicle. But definitely read up on the FAQ and such and good luck with your search (and check out the cars for sale section and autotrader - there's plenty of nice machines around still).
