MDX shift knob

OK.. i wanna get the woodgrain shift knob and when i do a serch here i just get more confused. which ones fit, how much do they cost, what do i hafta do to make it fit?? pics would be great... i heard the mdx works but not the cl/tl- is that accurate??

Yes, the MDX will work, and the TL/CL will not!! I have one sitting in a drawer at home 'cause I bought it with the hope that it would work!

Here is what Natelm says about it:

Caveat 1: it's locked in shift position, meaning there is no active shift lock...ever. So until I figure away to shorten the shift plunge distance (tommorow) it's a little dangerous if you move your hands around while you're driving, might accidentally knock it into reverse...

Caveat 2: it leaves about 1" of the shift bar exposed, it's unfinished metal. I plan on polishing it to match the bottom of the shifter or painting it.

Caveat 3: I can't seem to get the stock shifter back on...the screws that are at the base won't retract enough to slip it back on.

Caveat 4: I keep staring at it while I drive. Hazardous, but it's so good looking!

te guy on ebay doesnt specify whether its from a tl/rl or an mdx.... mastervtech, y didnt the tl one fit?? i thought about shaving or cutting off some of the actual rod with a heavy duty cutter to make it not as high. how do you mount it cuz it seemed to me that it twisted on but ours has 2 screws. natelm did u ever find out how to shorten the shift plunge distance??

He says it will fit MDX or TL, which is probably right, since they both mount the same way, but if it was mounted on the TL I bet it would be a tight fit.

I have a TL-S knob, Natelm has the MDX knob. My knob is sitting in a drawer because I have no use of it, other than to admire its' beauty once ina while!

Well, I am sure there is a way, but I don't have the patience to find that way. I don't want to sell the knob, I like looking at it. And, one day I hope to own a TL-S, so the knob can kind of remind me of my goal.

is the hole too shallow or too wide or too slim or what is wrong with it??

Yes the hole is too shallow, and the knob is a good 2-3 inches shorter than the MDX. I suppose you could shave/cut the rod to make it fit. The only thing that is stopping me from getting the MDX knob is the fact that Natelm no longer has the safety lock, I just don't trust myself, I know I would throw my car into gear accidentally!

he said he was gonna try to change the shift plunge distance-- ya think its possible?? i am a moron and sold my leather one when i thought i was gonna win an auction on a tl knob, now i dont have one at all!! i gotta find an mdx knob soon....
