Mls Bar And Kms Bar Both Installed Together !

Ok guys,
I just installed my MLS Copy bar, along with my KMS strut bar, along with my stock strut bar. So I now have all three bars installed on my car at the same time!

I think this is the first time (that I know of) that anybody has done this.......I believe someone said before that they would not fit? I did not have any problem getting them all to fit together. The MLS bar was a BlATCH to install though.

This is a post qouted from ChrisK:

"The two bars are slightly different IMHO. They both end up pretty much doing similar things, but in different ways.

You can kind of see the difference just by looking at the design.
The KMS links to the strut tower chassis were the OEM strut brace mounts. Together with the OEM brace it makes for a triangular chassis brace.

The MLS mounts directly to the shock struc bolts. This prevents any movement from the strut assemble itself.

IMHO, the KMS is more of a chassis brace while the MLS is more of a strut brace. The KMS will not do as good a job stiffening the struts and keeping the front struts in its proper geometry, however, the MLS will not do as good a job stiffening the chassis flex. I believe both will feel like the entire end is stiffer and more planted, however, one is working via the suspension while the other is via the chassis.

PS. As far as durability and strength, I believe both will outlast the vehicle. The MLS is a tubular design, so generelly it is a stronger design. The MLS is powder coated black so the finish is first rate. The KMS is polished, so it has a better show look to it. Each will appeal to different people. I liked the MLS for its OEM like look."

Best of both worlds? Worth it to keep them all on? Will it really make a difference or improvement in handling/feel over having just one of them?

I haven't driven it yet, and we are expecting snow for the next few days, so I don't think I will be able to push the handling hard or anything. But I will keep you guys updated with what I think of it, and also pics of course.

nah, they both go about it different ways. with both of them, you would have a very sturdy front end, and handle well

I think it would look cool but it is a bit overkill. As I implied in that posts that you quoted me in, both end up doing basically the same thing in different ways IMHO. Having both is ending up accomplishing similar results. When it comes to chassis stiffness and reduced flex in the suspension I don't think you can go too stiff so you should be more than fine. You just may have more bracing than is needed. However, if we are talking about anti roll bars (Sway bars) I do think you can go too stiff.

I can't wait to see the pics. It would look really nice if you could somehow get the stock bar to match the KMS polished look.

There is no such thing as overkill. The stiffer the better.
Quite frankly, I'm getting all stiff about it.

Anyways, we still don't see any pixxx. This would be a lot better with visuals.

As an FYI, the bar may *feel* light to you, but please note that is has 1- saved a car from being totalled, and 2 - sustained itself in a HIGH speed crash (over
100mph).

Here is supporting proof:

ThaAcSwerver, here's the play by play................................
They were speeding, the rear end slid out and they side swipped a truck. It then shot off the truck like a pinball and hit a concrete "highway" wall!!! The driver shattered his right leg, the passenger sustained very massive head trauma and had to be "cut" from the car with the jaws. 3 people in the back basically walked away, one had a lacerated hand!

The front passenger was put into a medically induced coma for 4 days. They pulled him out of it and monitored his situation. At first we thought he would end up a "vegatable" but he pulled out of it and recouped well as the brain swelling decreased. He will be coming back to work in June!!!!

I would say hitting anything @ 100mph is pretty hardcore, and exponentially detrimental. These guys walked away. That bar helped.
Remember me?? JROCK

not to take this thread off topic, just wanted facts t0 be known ....just because it is not 50 pounds does not mean it does not do the job. One requirement I had was keep it lightweight, but strong. There you have it. I mean, you are not trying to add weight to this car are you?

Not to be rude, but I don't buy that at all. That strut bar is weak, I can bend it in half with my bare hands. I have actually toyed around with that bar before, flimsy, basically the intake manifold cutouts do it in. I have worked in bodyshops before, you can not even try to give that bar props for some guys being lucky in a car accident. The OEM bar would be much more effective in increasing crash worthiness.

well if you say so....I refuse to get into a flame war with you. The proof was provided in the threads I posted. If it was so weak, and you are He-Man, I wonder why it didn't snap into three thousand pieces at 100mph. Fact of the matter is, when installed, it DOES the job. That is why so many were sold.

end of story
