Ok I go to get the Ak out of the paint shop and it looks great. Ride around for a while cause it has been gone for a week and park it (plus it is still a little dusty). I wait a couple of days until today and I drive it to work to show my bmw boys what a pimp is like. Cruising to work I smoke a cig so I let the moonroof back. Kewl.
I notice that my sun roof deflector is not put on like I had it (mounted to the cars actual "wind deflector", no biggie I figure I just did it wrong. Leave work and try to smoke a cig, and the moonroof does come back. I am like ****! So I get home and pull of the moonroof deflector to see if it was blocking something, to my dismay, I guess they put it back on to early and their are marks where the deflector was. I let that pass, but now I can't get my moonroof back. I pull out the Helms to see what all goes into trouble shooting this and it says. 1.Clutch out of adjustment... (clutch is not in the diagram) 2.Foreign matter stuck between guide rail and slider... 3. Inner cable loose ( not in diagram either) 4. Outer cable hno attached properly...(requiring removal) The motor is fine because it tilts down but then it is like it hits something and stops...motor still buzzing away. The strange thing is why did it work the first time I pulled it back. I am so pissed that it has just put a bad start on my four day weekend. I just don't really have the time to do this myself and I hate going to Acura because I know they are going to say I need a new motor. On top of that..deflector is off so I can see the marks where it was in my new pain...Needed to vent. one,

Nupe,
Did you do the moonroof tilt mod? Maybe reverse the steps to see if something got loosened up. As for the paint, I'm sure if you bring the car back to the body shop and show them and complain that the paint was not baked and hardened dry before they put back on the deflector, that they will redo that portion. Good Luck. |

You're saying that the roof tilts but does not retract? Maybe the new paint isn't slick enough to allow the rubber seal to pass any more? I had that trouble but a few coats of wax for the metal and silicone for the rubber and eventually it slips by fine...maybe that will help. I dunno.
I hope you get it figured out. |

What rubber seal? You mean the one that surrounds the glass for the moonroof? That for the info.

Got it fixed today. I was just playing with it and I heard something pop. Come to find out it was a little piece of plastic holding it in, when this popped free, it functioned fine. I then cleanit it and put some silicon spray on it. After this, I will take more care when detailing it and having moonroof down when there is debri flying around.
