Okay, I read all 10 pages again. I still do not like the idea of $20 bucks.
And I guarantee as soon as someone shares the idea, it will continue on and into the DIY section free of charge by someone with a loving and sharing heart. |

Let me ask you this question. If you had figured out this modification, would you have continued on and help to try and get the suspension parts developed or would you have just posted this mod in a DIY and be done with it? You want to talk about good Karma? Just look at all the grief they are getting over this whole ordeal when then brought many Legend parts to the community and not once before have asked for monetary help. If you really believe in good karma, than one would think that these two fine gentleman would have had no problems getting help back from the Legend community. Instead, for all the past support and parts they have brought to the Legend community, they get a slap in the face by most of you. Like I said, in the past 8 years that these guys have been gringing great things out for the Legend, I find it hard to believe you guys all can't appriciate them and only think they are out to make a fast buck. Their original plan was to put together a full EDM kit using all the EDM parts and that is why they bought the EDM parts. This mod was discovered by accident. If you guys want to buy the entire EDM parts kit then let them know. I'm sure you guys wold rather pay the money for the parts. |

As always, thanks for trying to clear this up (again
), Chris.Geez, one would think that they'd "get it" by now. ![]() You're right, maybe we should have just sold them the parts to get it done the hard way rather than tell them that there really is an easy way to do this. I'm sure that they'd not have had a problem with us making a "profit" then. Well, then again, I seriously doubt that they would spend all that money for the parts when $20 to recoup partial expenditure is so much to ask. I wonder if they have in mind a dollar figure that they think we owe them before they consider helping us with costs. Maybe they think it is our duty to fork out $20,000, $30,000, oh, maybe even $40,000 of our own money before they think that we've done enough for the community to request $20. All this talk about had they figured it out first, they would have created a diy to share out of their wonderfully loving and caring hearts. Yeah, maybe they should spend their thousands, sacrifice their days, dedicate all they have to the Legend community before they make that promise (and before any of you try to doubt that statement, you don't know the truth so don't try). Honestly, all of you who are complaining on and on and insisting that we OWE you this and that you owe us nothing, have no idea how much you're spoiling it for everyone else. We had made certain decisions about this, but you're forcing us to rethink everything. You should look up the word "sharing". Usually, it defines a two-way relationship; not one. And as much as you would like to believe that it's about the $20, it isn't. It's about this being a community not a service. It's about everyone doing their part to help. Just because you're not interested in a future product, doesn't mean that others wouldn't be. We're not spending our time and money for laughs and giggles. We do it because it is part of an ongoing quest to create parts that have been asked for, but not available to Legends in the past; this is a quest that has been in process since the beginning of the community, when it WAS a community, and before most of you even knew about the community. The truth is that you want to know how to do THIS mod, but are too selfish to want to have to do your part for this or future projects that you might not be interested in. You know what? I could go on and on about this, but it's just a waste of my time and energy. I'm not going to try to justify our actions or decisions anymore. I think that if you don't get it by now, you never will. Just stay away from judging our motives and insulting our character. Most of you are too new to the community to fully appreciate how we got to where we are, and who brought us here. Don't make this any worse. This was all put to rest, and then you guys had to bring it back up by insulting us. |

Okay, Im sorry about spoiling the quest for the perfect legend, and I will not say any more. Maybe we might have conflicting difference and ur right, arguing should stop.
Ive figured it out and will keep it to myself. Hope everything goes as planned. |

Okay guys, this is what I don't uderstand. Now that people are discovering that "moonroof" mod was dicovered by accident, more and more people won't be ready to pay for it.
Few posts above someone mentioned that they are asking for donation to fund future suspension parts development through this moonroof mod. My point is tomorrow or whenever you will sell these suspension mods to people, aren't you going to charge people? You are, right. If I understand correctly you will sell actual hardware to people, right. Also, Are you planning on selling the hardware at cost? I don't think so. You will sell them at a little premium and nothing woring with it. You are not in charity business. So, whatever money you guys are investing now, you will recoup it when you sell the mods. Now, if you guys want donation to buy parts so that you can do the R&D for suspension parts, then say that so its clear to everyone. You are all older member of these forums and have been around a long time. You all have a lot of credibility and respect. Please don't let it all go to waste. |

I never really thought that a simple post about offering a moonroof tilt DIY, would cause this much of a problem. In retrospect, we should not have announced this to the Legend community. Instead we should have just contacted a few friends that we know would appreciate the work that went into this. Which resulted in a no cost tilt moonroof feature for our Legends.
For those who are of the opinion that they should not have to pay $20.00 for this info, "then go ahead and figure it out"!!! we gave you enough information to do so. Graeme and I have had a few discussions about the future projects ("short shift kit and sway bars") and we have come to the conclusion that no matter what we do, it will not be good enough. Alot of you will complain that it will either cost too much or would expect to be given the information on how we developed a short shift (or sway bars) for the G2's. Which by the way a short shift prototype is currently being tested. Just for grins ![]() ![]() here are some of the projects (basically, what ChrisK was alluding too in a previous post) that I have lead or participated in:1st Gen Legend a. Worked with Weapon R in the development of a 1st Gen Air Intake system. As far as I know, no other company has made an intake before Weapon R or after. (Lead) b. Brought in clear corners from Japan for 1st Gen Coupe. Many wanted them, but not very many wanted to pay the price. I sold three sets, including my original set. (Lead) c. Brought in from Europe EDM headlights (H4) and clear corners. Many wanted them, but not very many wanted to pay the price. Other than the set on my 1988 Coupe, no other sets were sold. (Worked with Ben Lin) d. Developed short shift for 1st Gen 5 speed. Many wanted them, but not very many wanted to pay the price. Other than the one on my 1988 Coupe, no other short shift was sold. (Worked with Greg Louie) e. Brought Stromung to Legend community with group buy for 1st Gen Legend Coupes. Mildly successful.. (Lead) 2nd Gen Legend a. Worked with Weapon R in the development of a 2nd Gen Air Intake system and Cold Air Box. Many haters, but still mildly successful. There were a few who were able to make them for less. But, the bottom line is they ended up copying what Weapon R started. (Lead) b. Brought in from Europe EDM headlights (H4) and clear corners. Many wanted them, but not very many wanted to pay the price. Three complete sets were sold. (Lead) c. Work with Stromung in developing 2nd Gen exhaust system. Group Buy was very successful. (Lead) d. Tilt moonroof project. (Worked with Graeme) Pending Projects a. Short shift kit for G2 Legends b. Sway Bars for G2 Legends Other a. One of the founders and financial backers of Legend.org . Some of you should try to come up with a project (and I don't mean putting a mesh wire on the front grille) where substanial effort, time, research, phone calls and money had to be invested. Then go look in the mirror and repeat the same things you said on one of the "Tilt moonroof" threads, either here or at AcuraWorld. Yeah... I thought so... Lastly, I would like to acknowledge James92LS and shahavchik: 1) For getting together and taking the information given to figure it out... Good job!!! 2) For respecting Graeme and I by keeping the information to themselves. And they still have no problem in sending the $20.00. MikeC

I agree with the $20 charge. As was posted earlier if they were selling parts they would charge a premium to make a buck. That is business. In this case the product is information that they have collected. If you don't know this is just like buying software. I believe in freedom of information from large corporations that have too much money already, but I also believe in making sure the little guy, or beginner, gets what is due. $20 is nothing for a mod I have dreamed of for a long time.

Wow tilt looks nice guys. I have it on the Maxima and Grand Cherokee, but never use it so I probably would not mess with it on the Acura.
Definitely agree on the Vineyard gray. In 1991 some family friends bought one in that color and I've adored it ever since. Too bad they did not make it on the GS.
