Question Muffler questions...

I'm sorry to make a muffler post since it's probably been discussed a million times. I searched but couldn't find any info specific to what I'm looking for.

I need a new muffler on my 92 Legend coupe. I don't have a lot of money right now so I will probably end up going to the local discount muffler shop. I'm sure what they will sell me would be a crappy universal muffler that will last 1-2 years max before needing replaced again. Would it be better to buy one of the cheap ebay mufflers that are stainless steel and will last longer or do those just sound too crappy? The rest of the exhaust is stock and will remain stock. I just don't want to spend $XXX bucks on a cheapo muffler if I can spend the same on a cheapo stainless muffler that will last longer. I also don't want the tone to sound like total crap but I would imagine that wouldn't change much with everything else being stock. What are your thoughts?

Cliffs: Cheapo universal muffler at local shop or
Cheapo ebay stainless muffler installed at same shop

I'd go with a compromise between a fancy 300 dollar muffler and the 19.99 special. Go with Magnaflow.

they are sickass.

And I noticed in your other thread you are having car problems.... getting a new muffler will not fix your smoke problem in idle

I think you may have me confused with someone else. There is no smoke in my exhaust.

Magnaflows are going to be pretty loud compared to stock. You can get a resonator welded in for pretty cheap though.

If you want something cheap, buy a glasspack like cherry bomb and just put a nice tip, it will sound really deep and nice but not as good as the expensive ones.

Well, I don't want it to be annoyingly loud. Will this be obnoxious or will it be quiet enough to enjoy a drive with the windows down?

I had a magnaflow on my 92' coupe... loved it... not ricer loud, but noticeably louder than stock, I would say it definitely gives a throaty deep tone to your exhaust... they are good quality for great price... definitely magnaflow!
