You should run out to Jax Raceways and practice launches ON A TRACK. I promise drag strip launches are very different.

From the videos, I'd probably rev up to just under 3k rpm and have the throttle matted and the clutch up at around 3200rpm...if you see what I mean.

If you'll look at my drag racing at the strip thread, I've got it there....or I guess I could quote it...

Of course the more power you have, the more clutching/throttle manipulation you'll probably NEED to do. The less torque you have (like an S2000) the more aggressive you'll need to be to get out of the hole. Incidentally the absolute best way to launch the S2k that I've found (sadly) is to drop the clutch at redline and pray that you're moving fast enough to be in the powerband when the wheels stop spinning.

One of my friends (Integra GS-R, Cams, Hondata, etc.) sits at idle until the second yellow light illuminates and then floors the car, when the third yellow light comes on he starts to ease the clutch out. This helps him concentrate on only one thing at a time without worrying about an 8500rpm clutch burn/drop since the revs are still climbing when he leaves the line.

The fastest possible launch will include slipping the clutch and a very small amount of wheelspin.

Yea, I see what you mean and I'm sure drag strip launches are different.

I thought there were no more Jax Raceways, thats what some people told me. This is what it says on their website:

JAX Raceways was a facility which included a 1/8 mile NHRA drag strip, a 1/2 mile NASCAR dirt oval, and a WKA kart track. JAX Raceways was located near Jacksonville, Florida.

I'd like to go, but first I have to find out if it still exists or not.

Ahhh, see I haven't been down in J-ville in a while, that's very possible. My buddy moved out from Jax to Fernandina Beach a few years ago, so we don't fuck around in the big city much anymore.

Best of luck anyway!

Looks like Gainesville Raceway is the closest, ~70miles depending on where you are. Unfortunately, their T&Ts are only on Wed. night. Whoopsie!

Yea Jax is closed. Gainesville is an amazing track. Wednesday test and tunes are the way to go. You will get more runs in than you can use.

The traction is best earlier in the night.

I have never seen another Legend run than mine. Mine is an Auto 93 LS SC that bone stock and was sllllooooooww. Its fine ones it gets going but not in the first 60ft.

The Legend was just goofing off. This is what I normally bring to the track so say hi if ya see me.

I'll go to Gainesville on Wednesday if I get my short shifter by that time. How much is it?

Try again

The Lightning is mine. It will be in the mid 10s this fall. I am putting roll bars in next month so I can turn it up and put some real power down without getting banned from the track..
