Talking My 1st set of JDM KA7 converted to 9006/9005 Low & Hi beam USDM KA7 ala Halo Style

Be ready to see the following posts with 10 pictures

I pulled it off, Full USDM 9005/9006 Hi/Low HID and Halo
inside a JDM KA7 headlight Assembly!

I will have pictures of them functioning on the GS Sedan
by early next week if not sooner (as soon as my body shop
gets them installed at the shop)

Next, soon to be a KA8 Conversion to USDM with larger
Halos maybe.

I do have another KA7 set thats ready for conversion
but I need a set of doner USDM Sedan headlights
if you want me to make a set 4U.

This is soley for the non believers

I hope U all approve

Regards, James S.

These are pictures during the final stages of the outcome of my KA7 JDM to USDM project.
I did photo document earlier on, and will have pictures of
the finished product on the car work and beam patterns what have you to show you that the results are infact good.

Picture of modified JDM lamp housings using the 9006/9005 which creats a seperate Low and High beam area via the stock USDM harness (no more JDM wiring bulb worries)

Pic of Back of KA7 showing the modified inner reflector housings to accept the 9006 and 9005 bulbs.

I added a small "Halo" ring in the 9005/Hi Beam cell so as when my parking lights are on the inner headlights will glow with just a slight blue tint. This runs on 2 LEDs via 12v power and 1 resister per side.

Pic showing the older style 4000K 9006 HID setup (AutoLamps type) which I will be wiring in the car at a later time.

Wiring is not complete in this pic, but shows where I utilized a connector location for the inner LED Halo

Picture of Halo at night (remember I will be using the stock JDM lens covers which are the oval inner glass peice and Chrome Bezel) So this will show up as a blue glow and yes you will still be able to make out a halo ring through the outside of the light, but will be completely concealed during the day (Stealty)

Pictures of where I exited the Main Wiring Harness to a new location that works perfectly on both sides of the car for easy harness hookup-re-hookup.

Picture of the main reflector with the HID bulb installed

Rear shot of the assembly, which is almost done, just have to finish wiring from side marker position light and wire in the Halo power and run pigtail connector to mate up with exisiting wire harness in car (I have side markers on both cars so I will have a true JDM look/setup)

1st grey paint coating to clean up my act alittle
In this picture the inside glass lense, chrome Bezel and outter plexi lense are already re-attached to the unit

Whew, It took me 3 weeks on and off and lots of planning to get through both the Left and Right sides.

I cannot wait to get my GS Sedan back with her New Eyes!

I just wanted to share this with my fellow Legend owners
and if you have a need to do this, feel free to contact me and I
can answer any questions that you may have.

Just be sure that you have LOTS OF TIME before taking on this project and or if you can get an extra set of Doner Headlights
So as your car will not be out of commission.

Regards, James S.

James S, that is friggin awesome..

I don't suppose you could put together instructions on how you did it.
That would be great.

This is why I LOVE this forum.

Props to you.

Hey thanks for the props TYPEII and the same props to you.

92whitelegend, If there is a surge of Legend owners willing to do this I will try to put together a instruction manual with pictures.

At this point I am willing to do just one more KA7 which I will sell to whomever is willing to pay for it.

After I do my KA8 Coupe conversion, I do not want to see another 1pc headlight apart near me again! LOL

I also have to find out what unknowns I learn when doing the
KA8s in the months to come.

But everything I have done on the KA7s Mod are form fit and function is very good. Last thing to verify is when I get the car on the road to see if beam pattern and any stray light is a problem, but at this point everything looks nominal and I am pleased with that.

I also have a R33 round tail light project in works for the Coupe
I have one already laid out, just now a matter of cosmetics.
nice thing about this mod is it too is designed to just pop right in the existing tail light opening as a perfect fit, but with the large JDM Skyline R33 tails (kinda like the Corvette) only thing on that I would have to mod is the rear bumber on eitherside of the license plate and install rectangular clear reverse lenses and it would be complete after minor re-wiring.

Instructions is one thing, but I do not know when I will get around to that. So I will just have to sit back and see who really wants to do this, especially after I post pictures of them functioning on the car in Day/ Nite pics with beam pattern.

My next set will have IR sensing Lazer Beams which will
systematically take out the headlights of all other cars
which do not carry the name of Honda/Acura.
But I do not know where to locate the generator to produce the
1.21 gigawatts of power.
