in the world of cars, money can solve all problems.. might cost you alot because the main structure of the car is damaged. its not totaled |

they total when the repair costs more than like 65% the value of the older cars. thats what happened to my 95 toyota but it was just under oh and dont even think of not reporting it to the cops and the chiropractor will be able to get you fixed you may not realize it but you get pretty messed up when u get hit and that looks pretty hard. Also settlement money helps make the legend better. ha ha i call it hush hush money i was in a hit and run. milk that insurance co

yes, I am fine and i got the police report filed right away at 100% her fault, so that is good I'm thinking it's about 2000$ in damage, and looking at my car, not to sound conceited but I would say it is in "good" of kelly blue book and that is rated at like 4,853$ or something like that... So I believe I may be coevered, I have a claims report inspector and I can visit a local body shop affiliated with them to get a quote, then take my money and go to Alperovich's buddy if he can get me a better deal.

You really need to do your research and learn more about how insurance companies work. Insurance companies "NEVER" total a car just because of age, if they did many classic cars would have salvaged titles or be sitting in junkyars.

If you have to, hire an attorney. Under law a vehicle does not have to be "Totalled" unless the cost of repairs exceeds the cars value. Also, make sure you are looking at "Retail" value, not Private Party. They need to value the car at what it would cost you to replace it at a "Dealership", not a private party seller.

Nah, that's not totaled. Worst case is that they'll have to realign the rear quarter which they can do on a frame machine. Doesn't look like it got into the rear suspension so the cradle & control arms should be OK. All of that bent sheet metal is under the rear bumper cover so they can beat that back out so the mounting points for the bumper will line up. New bumper cover, taillight & gasket, exhaust, & trunk lid alignment and you should be good to go. Probably looking at $2500-3000 worth of repairs, IMO.

/\ well if your talking 3k it might be enough to total it but still, its not bad, they should (after the buy back) leave you with enough to fix her.

Thank you. I do know how the insurance company's work. More importantly, do you know how they work with the body shops and salvage yards?

And yes, I have worked with insurance companies and I know how they do there basis. I also know that if you are not the one at fault you have a lot more leeway in an accident and in getting "What you want". And, from experience, that you can force an insurance company to use Retail Value (I.E. Dealer Replacement Cost from KBB/NADA) to value the car and force them to fix up to that amount. Basically if Blue Book shows it should cost you $8,000.00 to replace your vehicle and the other person hit you, then you can force them to value the car at $8,000 in regards to repairs. If I remember correctly also, someone else on these forums did just that with there Legend a couple years ago. They were in an accident where the other person was at fault and the insurance company tried to total his car. Instead he forced the insurance company to fix his car. As a matter of principal if you are not the one at fault you can get the insurance company to do a lot just to avoid the "Potential" of going to court.

I will say its probably totalled for the fact insurance companies only thing legends are worth nothing. So if its 2.5k in damages you MIGHT get away scotch free, at 3k, get worried it might be totalled.
