Nail biting drive home....
...Probably the most stressful drive home for me ever.
I looked out my office window last evening and saw the dark clouds rolling in so I decided to cut out at about 5:15 and head home to get my car in the garage - only thinking that I would beat the rain and keep her clean. Well, about halfway home the drops started falling - HEAVY drops. Then, the attack - the very loud pinging of HAIL falling on my coupe. Of course everyone else on the road decided to slow to 5mph so I'm stuck. I don't know if any of you have ever had to experience the sense of helplessness when you're in traffic and your car is being pelted by ice cubes falling from 30,000 feet, but its not enjoyable. Hail is the worst enemy of cars besides idiot drivers. I did manage to get to an overpass and hang for a while until the hail stopped only thinking of the heart attack I'm going to have when I get home to inspect the damage. Well, I pulled her into the garage, towled it off and went over it and over it. The Legend repelled the onslaught of the attckers with NO DAMAGE! ![]()

actually, i had a similar situation a couple of days ago. after our acura meet on my way home it started raining really hard. then all of a sudden it starts to hail and i am like oh crap, i better not get any hale damage. there was no place for me to pull off and keep my car covered. luckily the hail stopped shortly after it started. it took me like 30 minutes to get back home where it would normally take me 10. i took backroads that were had some hills and i kept plowing through large puddles...

Re: Nail biting drive home....
Sounds familiar. I got caught in a hailstorm a couple or so years ago and all too clearly remember that mix of helplessness, panic and dread that I felt. Like you, after arriving home I was relieved to find no visible damage. That shows how tough our Legend is.

i was at work the other day, actually yesterday, and it started to get really dark and hail. i was sad, but there was no damage, except for the 2 huge rock chips in my hood that were already there.

that feeling is all too common on this thread. i wasn't a lucky one though. it was like a month ago i was driving into a nightmare.the sky turned black and the it started pouring buckets. lightining actually hit about 50 feet from me and i nearly soiled myself. then came the that awful sound like someone was steady throwing rocks at my baby. i was actually screaming profanities at weather..... helpless isn't the word for it. i'de have to say rage w/ a little bit of regret for deciding to drive at that paricular moment would about cover it. it goes like this...
then when i saw all the teeny tiny dents.. yep that about covers it. |
