Need help with ABS...please

My 1993 legend ls is acting strangely again. This time its the brakes.

The other day, i was trying to stop, on dry pavement, and my abs engaged, and started acting like i was on ice. It made a couple of funny noises from behind the center console, and then was fine. Then, it didi it again, only worse, it kept making the abs noise, while i was not braking, then stopped, my abs light then came on, and remained on, but the brakes worked fine. Now, when ever I go on gravel, or on bumby roads, i will hear a rattling noise from inside the center a/c vents. when i press the brakes, the noise goes away. let off the brakes, the noise will sometimes begin, sometimes it will be quiet for a while.

What gives? ANyone else have a problem like this?

Is there a way to unhook the abs so it doesnt do this and the light stays off? Everytime I drive now, it seems like i have to go thru the process of haveing the abs engage on dry land, then, the light goes on, and were ok...

any help please

I suspect that the noise and ABS aren't related as nothing for the ABS is in the dash that I am aware of. It uses a computer (usually behind the rear seat I believe but I could be wrong on that), the modulator which is what you see on the passenger side near the fluid reservoir and a pump / accumulator that is under the modulator. There are also some fuses and relays in the engine compartment.

Could you have gotten some gravel or leaves into the airconditioning? Do you check your A/C filter? I've pulled all kinds of stuff out of the external side of the filter.

(1) check your ABS fluid level. If it is low, add some and have the dealer check for where it is leaking from. The lines are under extremely high pressure. Stay away from monkeying with them.
