Need Input for LEGENDtuner.com

This is a copy of the post I put in the Electronics section. I thought it might get more attention here since it has been languishing over there.

Hello all!

I'm going to be doing a updated full lighting comparison test for LEGENDtuner.com soon including the new McCulloch HID conversion and the Philips 9005-9006 conversion along with all the PIAA, APC, and other bulbs from past tests.

I want to get a quantitative measure of the light output from the different bulbs but do not want to shell out the $75-$200 for a dedicated light meter. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to put together a light measurement device (possibly integrating a multimeter which I already have).
I was thinking of using a photodetector diode of some sort but am unsure of the exact circuit design required. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. If anyone has a light meter they want to lend me for a week or so that would work even better!
