new guy with mad probs

wuts up yall? im just signed up to the forum, been reading it for a couple months though. this place is great, it has helped me alot with my car and all that stuff. i got a 93 coupe l model, but it doesnt work right now, i started on the head gaskets because some rip off mechanics told me i had blown hg's thats why my car was over heating....so i got off the fuel rails, coil packs, and the left side valve cover and was looking threw my repair records and they mentioned how my water pump had residue around it. and everytime my car would over heat, i would put it in neutral and rev it to 2.5k-3k and couple seconds later i could hear the sound of coolent flowing around my dash board....so i put 2 and 2 togather and figuered that it was a bad water pump, so i put everything back on bought one new fuel injector(i dropped it and broke it) and got a water pump and am waiting to get enough money to get it installed. well now my car doesnt start and my d4 light flashes when the acc. is on and the car makes clicking noises all over the engine and around the dash?? cant be good, so i figure its the VSS that i need to change out and the reson maybe its not starting cause the main ignition relay is gone bad.... any help on this would be great sorry for the long message
later

sounds like you have several normal legend problems, they just all happened at once. why did the mechanics tell you you had a bhg? leakdown test? or what. anyway, wp is a common thing to go bad, as well as the vss and the main relay. main relay is a fairly easy fix, yourself, do a search, miked has posted many pictures. miked>all. anyway. vss i have never done or had a prob with. so i dont know what to tell you on that. search is your friend is all i can say.

peace

The D4 light that flashes means that there may be a problem with your transmission.

Jump your service connector and get the code.

To do this:

In your passenger footwell and under the carpet is the ECU. There is a small service connector (plug that isn't connected to anything) around the top of the ECU (it should be attached to the top, but may be hanging). Jump the connector with a paper clip and turn your ignition to the ON position (do not start the car).

Count the number of blinks on the D4 and/or Check Engine light.

Long blinks count as 10s
Short blinks count as 1s

There will be a pause between codes.

When trying to start, does it crank or just click?

If it cranks but won't start, maybe it's the Main Relay. If it just clicks, it could simply be the battery.

finally it started!!!! i had my igniton coil packs taken off to get them inspected as well as the spark plugs to make sure they both worked but a mechanic( a good one that i trust) said he can not check the packs without the car, so i put them back on and kept tryin to start it it was barly cranking at all, sounded worse today then ever, i thought for sure it was a dead battery or sumtin like that, so i kept turnin and turnin it and it started to sound like it was commin so i was gassin and turnin ya know how it goes, and finally started up after holding the key to the start postion for like 30 seconds(could that damage it?) and kept having to rev it. keep in mind this is the first time this car has been started since early december, so u can imagine it was smoking quiet a bit, it had my dad and i kinda worried but it evetully stopped, well it seems like i have to tweak with the idle a lil because it keeps wanting to die, not right away but let it idle for a good 30 sec and probly will stall.could that be bad idle or something else? anyways so i put more gas in it after it ate up about a qtr tank in less then 15 minutes! and its been starting up fine, i hopped in it and took it around the hood and it started over heating, not unusall i was expecting it so i parked it and am waiting for my next pay check to install the new wp. but now my d4 light is no longer flashing?? wuts up with that....also i wanted to know how do u drain the coolent system? my coolent started to boil so im pretty sure its no longer good. but more info would be great guys thanks so much for the speedy response.
