New member with lower dash cover problem.
Hi
My name is Bobby and I’m from Brooklyn, NY. I’m fairly new to the forum. I joined a few months ago but I haven’t participated in any discussions. I really don’t know much about cars. When I have any problems with my car, I normally just use the forums search function to find a solution or sometimes I contact some of the other members directly. I have a 1991 Acura Legend Coupe Type I Auto. The color is a dark blue. The car has 127,000 miles on it and runs great. When I first got the car in May 2003 it had 111,000. Well, the reason I’m posting this today is because yesterday I couldn’t disarm my viper alarm with the remote so I had to take of the lower dash cover and pull out the wires from the main unit (the brain) just to be able to start the car. In the process of doing that I broke off part of the lower dash cover. The part that’s broken is on the right side of the ignition were the dash cover clips in. Now my question for you guys on the forum is, Does any one know were I can get another lower dash cover or does any one have one for sale? I don’t care about the color. Thanks

You should be able to repair this...Go to a good auto parts store and get some PLASTIC WELD (not contact cement or super glue or epoxy....Plastic Weld)..sometimes found at good hobby shop too. If you want a clean look then make some plastic braces for holding the two broken pieces together while they weld themselves together at the edge. Or if you want it a bit stronger, but don't mind a couple of screw heads being visible, you can use some metal strapping or pieces from the the hobby shop or hardware store. Brace on backside and screw the braces down from front to rear connecting the broken pieces together.
