no air in the system...a good thing?
a few times my needle moved but then went right back down...we bled it and there was a lot of air in the system and then it was fine for a few days...then it moved again just a little...but this time no air when i open the bleeder or when i take the cap off...also the reservoir is low and theres a little coolant dripping on the right side underneath the overflow tank...sometimes i smell coolant and sometimes i dont...i bled it again and left the bleeder open while i added coolant, the needle hasnt moved since..but is it a good thing that theres no air?

There IS air in there if there is a leak.It might be ONE bubble...seen that before. It can take a awhile to get the air out, even when you think your done...your not. Park it on a hill and bleed it. Sometimes air gets "trapped", so turn on your heat and twist the knob all the way...only way to really bleed it all....Hurry it up too, before it gets worse, or else...
Also, I was feeling pretty good today so I didn't say anything, but you should do a search...It's all there ![]()

if you keep running your car like that youll end up with a blown head gasket... just change the tstat with a oem one, and get a overflow tank from a yard. bleed it like 4-5 times before you call it a day. if the temp gauge moved you gotta get something fixed... when did you do a wp/tb change???

If the needle goes up while the car is idling but accelerating or applying throttle corrects it back to normal position, your thermostat is stuck closed and is sprung open when you accelerate. Replace the thermostat with an OEM part immediately. Reading the BHG thread might prove to be a big help. It could be something so simple as a bad temp sender unit but I'd rule everything else out before blaming the sensor. And like everyone says, don't drive it around while it's like that!

I've had numerous leaks on my Legend before, from cracked endtanks, bad radiator seal, to freeze plugs loosing. I lost up to four liters of fluid from my cooling system. None of those caused overheating or air entering into the system. Well, that's my case.
Recently, it started having the exact symptoms as described by LEgEND-FEiGN. It was surely the heasgasket. The coolant had a hint of gasoline fragrance. A very slight hint, like the vanillia in Chanel No. 5. Again, that's my case. The last thing I want to be in is BHG denial. |
