Lately my factory alarm will not disarm itself when I unluck the car like its suppose to do..so the freakn horn will keep honking and honking until I walk around to the passenger side and unlock it from there..that is the only way it works..now I can either fix the driver side problem or just elimate the security feature period...does anyone know how to do either one..its my 93LS...thanks

your alarm going off when you open the door is a sign of your door lock actuator starting to fail. you can disable the factory alarm and get an aftermarket which is better since our factory alarms are "primitive."
as far as eliminating the alarm, do a search for "paperclip."

Factory Alarm - what does it really protect?
The factory alarm being very primitive, and doesnīt have any interior sensors. Itīs only senses, if the door have been opened without the use of a key (factory keyless). Or, if the car is started without a key. Most of the Legend models have no glass break sensors or vibration sensors built into the factory system. Ok as far to the OEM alarm system. That prob you got, is our freaking DLA (Door Lock Actuator), a very very common prob here. That unit sucks really esp it's really not cheap. Sounds like that you have an failed Door Lock Actuator or maybe a short circuit. Here some useful infos about our mystic 'Door Lock Actuator'... Hope that the info will help you. -Mike How That Works: The actuator contains a 'Solenoid' switch which is negative controlled in our car. A solenoid is simply a special electromagnet, or, in other words: A long straight coil of wire can be used to generate a nearly uniform magnetic field similar to that of a bar magnet. Magnetism produced by the coil current draws the mechanism into the coil and allows the magnetism to flow 100% through low resistance iron. What It Does: The 'Door Lock Actuator' in our Legend is a 'All in One' unit. It is a lock and solenoid combination. It controls the factory alarm (Armed and Disarmed), the 'Auto Door Lock Close Function', the 'Keyless Opening / Closing (Auto) System', and also the 'Light Door Controls' (Open/Close only. No fading. {Fading see ICU}). You will see here, how complex this system is. This stuff controls a lot of functions. The door switch is a part of the lock actuator, which is located inside of the door. The price? Hmm too expensive. Around 300-350 bucks. Please consider too, that the DLA is no aftermarket product. It's an OEM thing. Either you try to get an used one (junkyard) or to buy a new one . Better would be to get an used one, unless you own enough buck to buy a new one. Good luck. -Mike

Thanks
Yeah it only does it sometimes too..sometimes I get in the car and you hear the actuator like it sounds like it wants to lock the doors but it wont..the actuating noise goes away after I lock the doors...so HOW do I disconnet the OEM alarm so dont have to look like a dumbass when I have to unlock the passenger door just to get in my car....thanks again

The paperclip way cheating the hood latch of the factory alarm. That means it tricks out the alarm into thinking that the hood is always open so it will never arm. The security LED in the door should not light up. All you need is a paperclip and electrical tape to disable the OEM alarm. Here the way to do: 1. Pop up the hood. 2. Reach behind the hood latch and find the wire. Thatīs one cable (negative controlled) 3. Try to find the connection just below the radiator support and disconnect it. 4. Bend the paperclip into a 'U' form and stick it in the end of the connector what runs under the radiator. 5. Tape it all up. 6. Done. Now you should be able to lock your doors and the LED will light up. Your alarm now will think, that the hood is always open and not being ON. More info bout [How To Disable OEM Alarm] you will find that here. -Mike |

Hey guys i had a problem where i could not disarm the factory alarm (i tried all the locks and anything possible to disarm it) for a whole day i was stuck with not being able to overide the starter kill until I was told this which worked and completely disables the factory alarm and starter kill.
On the security module (alarm box gold in color a little back under the steering wheel) on the 91-93's have a red/green wire and 94 95's blue and green close to the edge of the larger plug, just ground that wire out and that disarms your alarm! Worked for me!
