OEM fog switch help soultion FOUND!
I have a fog kit (generic) which was on the car when I bought it and it is connected so that when I turn on the parking lights (or also low beam) the fogs come on (I also have a switch connected to the fogs in between which I can use to turn it off if I choose not to use them.
![]() I got the OEM fog switch/Courtesy light/TCS combo since I have a 94 coupe. ![]() Anyway, when i take the wires going into my fog kit's original switch: (red accessory/white to relay to fogs/black to ground) ![]() and put them into the Acura OEM switch using the provided harness (and I have tried all combinations of moving the wires to different contact points) ![]() ![]() the fogs and the light on the switch are constantly on (when pressing the OEM switch on and off, the fog lights and switch light stays on) ![]() This is the instruction sheet that came with the switch: ![]() And the way my fogs are wired is: ![]() ![]() 1: I have the accessory power from the fuse box (fuse #49 - rear fog lights) (connected to the fuse that turns on the lights) to the fog switch 2: I have the white power wire from the switch to a relay/ and another wire from battery to relay/ and another wire from relay to ground/ and another wire from relay to fogs 3: from the switch is also a wire to ground 4: and from the fogs are wires that go to ground. It works perfectly with the original fog switch, but when the Acura swich is connected it acts like a constant power connection (not like a switch) I bought 2 fog switches thinking there was something wrong with one I bought first (from Delray Acura and 2nd from Acura of Peoria AZ just to be sure they were from different batches) I have seen others make posts in various threads with this question but no answers. Anyone have any ideas? Please.

It's been a long while since I've looked at my switch, but in this picture I believe that the wires should be power, accessory, and ground going from left to right...but I'm not 100% sure of this. I do know that if you follow those 3 wires back to the green TCS/fog harness, they should be accessory, power, and ground moving from outside towards the middle.
With this setup in mind, in my car I have the power wire from the fog switch going to a relay and the fog lights draw switched power directly from the battery. This allows me to control the fog lights independently of the headlights and don't come on unless the key is in the accessory position. Hope this helps. |

I will double check the wiring. I did try every configuration but it didn't seem to help. Either the lights came on and stayed on, or they never came on. Just depending on how I plugged it in.
Anyone else have ideas? Again I can turn it off and on using the switch that came with the fog lights. But with the Acura switch it just leaves the lights on.

So even though everything worked until I used the OEM switch I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that the switch was the problem (since I ordered a 2nd one from a different region and the same thing happened with that.)
But imjust2fast mentioned that his same problem, which he mentioned in this thread: Fog Light Switch Wiring his problem was with the switch and it's contact points. so I took apart by brand new $16 switch to find this: (the pics are of my old TCS/Courtesy light switch but the problem part IS from my fog switch) ![]() ![]() you can see the contact arms are BROKEN! The reason the lights were always on was the remaining pieces were causing the connection between the accessory and power cables. 2 bad (brand new) switches from different dealers (or "vintage warehouse" as the dealer out here calls it) and both with the same problem. Anyway, for those who may have this now or in the future, there you go. Oh, to fix it i took the good contact pieces from y old TCS switch and put it in the fog switch. thanks for all your help. Now I have OEM switch controlled foglights!
