Oil recommended??????????

Hi,
The car recommended using 5W30 for it. My car has 183K miles, run smooth like new, but it used about 1/2 quart every 3000 miles.

Should I change it to 10W30? Is it will affect my gas mileage? a lot?

My situation is I am driving 120 miles a day and very hot in summer and very cold in winter.

I did not try it before, because I am using synthetic oil. If it doesn't work out, it is too expensive to flush that oil out........

Also, my NGK (EOM) plugs is at 60K miles now. still running fine, should I change it now? the plug is around $12 a piece, but the car running fine.

any idea?

With that many miles and only using 1/2 qt of oil every 3000 mi? Seems like you are doing the right thing.

If you are getting around 20 to 26 miles per gallon, city and highway driving, then I would keep on trucking, or car-ing in this case.

Why fix something that " ain't broke "

use 10w 30 Amsoil oil full syn .. You don't have to flush at anytime,, all syn and petro oil is fully "mixable" I use full syn and change it every 10k miles,, but I change the filter every 5k milles. I use oil analysis and have never found my oil tests below what new petro oil is even after 10k miles.
