Which one? 1994 Coupe (auto) or 1993 Coupe (6spd)
I came across two red coupes and trying to decide which way to go, so I'm reachin' out for assistance. This is my dilemma.
1) 1994 Red Coupe LS ($4900 firm): auto, tan leather (front seats ripped at lumbar), 112 k, all power, HID's, tint, GS rims, third owner unsure of mechanical history. 2) 1993 Red Coupe LS ($6500 firm): 6spd, tan leather (mint), 126k, Arizona car, tint, GS rims, second owner, all service records. So what do you guys think about the choices? I also came across a 1992 4dr LS (Maroon/tan) mint for $3500. |

any pic?? I would pick up the 93 LS 6 spd but for $6500 is alittle bit high. that could fall into the range between $4000-$5000. I got my 92 LS sedan 5spd blk in blk, 124k miles for $3400 back in 04.

I've seen completely stock cars driven harder than modded cars. Tasteful things such as hid's and gs wheels is not really considered 'modding' that much, what you should be afraid of is 60" wings and random interior pieces painted neon blue, etc. I'd go with the 6 spd due to the service history, but that 6500 shouldn't be firm, you should be able to get it for 5800ish and i'd call that relatively fair for both you and the seller.

I agree with Shaar...when I throw money at a car, I take care of it. When I've kept a car "stock" it was because I was beating the crap out of it. It goes both ways...

I'd say if you had to go with either one, go with #2 as much as I perfer the 94/95LS over previous years. #2 sounds cleaner and more cared for. Seeing its a AZ car check the paint. Look over the service papers see if the HG (head gasket) been done or the water pump, timing belts etc been done. At 126k miles if it hadn't been done its going to need it very soon as well as CV boots, trans mounts, rings and seals etc and its going to cost ya. Whatever you do, if your serious GET IT CHECKED FOR HYDROCARBONS. The car is at the milage where its going to need some high $$$ sevices very soon, which could be reason for its sale. Look over those records very carefully and see if any major services have been done if not theres your major bargining tool. Theres no way they will get 6500 if none of the major services have been done, well not if the buyer knows the Legend.
Not knowing the service history of the 94 could cost you dearly, not because it has HIDs and tint.

Your decision on which to choose should come down to the following criteria...
1. Do you want auto or manual (keeping in mind how often you drive, work usage, personal usage)? 2. Your budget and if you can really afford the extra $1600. 3. Your experience in test driving each car and the look of the engine bay. If the car doesnt ride very smooth and the engine bay looks filthy then chances are the car has been mistreated or you may be lucky and all it needs it a simple tune-up. Use your best judgement. 4. If the visibly and readily known issues each car have require repairs that exceed what you would spend in comparison to the other car. My choice if I had no preference in the transmission would be #1 cuz its an obvious deal. #2 is definitely overpriced but 6-speeds are hard to find so you might wanna bite the bullet if the car is mechanically sound. Remember just cuz someone kept the service records doesnt mean they didnt drive it hard and caused the car to be serviced more than the average. All it means is he kept the receipts for the repairs and services. If he ran it hard and had to replace one thing, who knows what else may need repair soon. One more thing, dont let the fact that one may look better than the other cosmetically deter you from possible mechanical issues. Its easier to fix cosmetic issues than it is mechanical. Plus, you can deal with cosmetic issues easier than mechanicals. |

sheesh i woulda though this would be an easy one, #2, rare 6spd, low miles, service records. What a find! for 6500 its a great price for a car thats been taken care of!
BTW guys, you do know that the GS wheels came stock for both cars, why do ppl call that a mod? only mod i saw on that list was tints and HID's, i'm glad the guy who owned the 6spd spent his money on maintenance instead.

If you don't mind a sedan, get this car for $2,700 in Philly, it's a 93 5 spd sedan with 135k miles in perfectly good condition (according to him) and he's a forum member:
