Paint specs...
Anyone know what the factory specs for the paint on the 93 Legend's was?? I know the layers of paint on the cars in 93 was more than in the 94's and 95's. I think I read somewhere that we had 6 coats of color and 6 coats of clear with bake processes in between
Is this true?? And, once my car starts to get painted what should I ask for?? I want it to be thicker simply to retard paint chips!! My TL has like a 3-4 coat paint job and that bish is full of paint chips !! My Legend held up quite well to paint chips...Thanx a lot guys :p Oh yeah and does anyone know a paint that matches this one perfectly? I know Raky posted his Passport color (thanx man :p) and someone had mentioned the color from the earlier NSX's...anyone have pics of this color?? Sebring silver was it called?? Oh and what's the best paint I should use?? I heard DuPont was the ishh...is this true?? Sorry for all the q's guys...but I'm being very pick-eeeeeee ![]() |

The thickness of paint has nothing to do with impact resistance. Excessive layers are more prone to crazing. With a topcoat, you are probably looking at 4-5 layers as the Legend is a base/clearcoat combination. Often the clear has an additional pass if wet sanding is planned.
