I just take off my windshield arm and paint it. Mine is fading pretty bad. Here is what you need to get the job done if you want to repaint the windshield arm.
1. Hex wrench (#9/16 I believe, just a little bit larger than #1/2) 2. Duplicolor black. You can get this at a local autozone or pepboy at about $3-4. 3. Steel wool #0000 (that's right #0000), finest steel wool (couple of $ for a whole bag I believe). Here is the how part, very easy but it will take time to get the paint set and get everything right. 1. Take the windshield arm off by remove the hex bolt. It is a bit tricky to take it off and you should be a bit careful. Should take 3 min max. 2. Clean the windshield wiper arm as clean as possible. Tape out the part that you don't want to paint on. 3. Prepare the space to support the wiper arm since it won't sit on the ground at the angle you want and make the painting job harder. 4. Spray the black color on the wiper arm. It might be best to put at least 12" distant between the spray bottle and the wiper arm to get a good spray surface. Don't spray too much since it will create the dripping effects. 5. Let it sit for at least an hour under shade. 6. After inspect that the surface of the new paint look good, take the tape off. 7. Use the steel wool slowly sand the surface of the wiper arm. This will make the surface dull (not shinny) which IMO look better. If you like the shinny surface, then by all means, leave it as it is. However, you will need to get the paint job done more carefully and better though. I just spent nearly 3 hours (most of them just wait for the paint to dry) to paint and repaint until I get the nice smooth surface I want Mocca |

i took off the actual wiper blades. yes, it would cause a problem if i got paint on them
i just didn't want to mess with taking off the wiper arms due to the fact that i am not completely sure how and i don't want them to fly off when i am using the wipers because knowing me i would put them on wrong.
