I just bough my PC and ordered this package.
http://pinnaclewax.com/bf200.html There should still be free shipping on this package as well. So far I've used all of the pads and accesories except the yellow cutting pad. But I'm sure I'll be using that in the future when there is more wear on my paint. The microfiber bonnets work well on the interior of your car if you want to clean the leather or even condition it. Otherwise some swear by Edge foam pads. Kinda pricey if you ask me though. 18 bucks a pop. |

You'll need more pads then that eBay package. Well let me rephrase that. You don't need more you need a bigger variety. These pads can be washed and dry out very easily. 2 grey foam pads doesnt do you a lot of good. Neither does 2 orange pads. 2 white polishing pads might be helpful though. It doesnt even have a good white polishing pad -- which is a typical usage pad.
I know this gets pricey. I bought my PC and then when i got it i was like shit, now I need to buy pads. ![]() |

I was working on a budget so I don't have any duplicates. I have one each of a yellow, a white, and a black. I only use the yellow when I am trying to work out really bad swirls. I would suggest getting some that extend beyond the velcro backing pad so you can bump into corners without having the backing pad hit paint. The pads I use now do not extent beyond the backing pad and I worry that I might do damage especially when I do the bumpers, headlights, and deck lid. When I buy new pads, I may also consider a microfiber pad.

The package in the link I posted above leaves about a 1.5 inch lip of pad. The backing plate is about 4.5 - 5 inches in diameter. The foam pads are 6-6.5 (each one varies) -- there is plenty of space and i havent come close to bumping my paint.
Good point though -- some people have run into this problem before. That's why I think it's good to get a package. The company has already thought about these problems. |

Good thread.
LOLI buy my pads from.. properautocare.com I either get these: http://www.properautocare.com/hi612infopaa.html -OR- These: http://www.properautocare.com/ad712inhipa.html Same pads, it's just that the larger ones go beyond the backing plate, like mentioned above. If I were you I'd get 2 or 3 polishing pads, and 1 or 2 finishing pads. Cutting pads are not really necessary with our cars because our clear coat is softer. (All Honda/Acura clear is softer) Your detailing results are more due to product and process, than buffer pads.

I didn't search eBay -- shipping is way too random with eBay and I wanted pads now since I already had the PC.
I did a lot of searching and talked to some people at detailcity.com, basically if you have a budget and you want good pads and lots of them I recommend that package. I love it. Wouldnt change my decision. |
