Possible New Legend Owner
I currently own a '98 Integra GR-R sedan. It has been a great car for the last four years but lately I've been doing more and more long distance driving. I think I'd like to get a car more suited for that type of driving. The car I'd like to replace the Integra with is a Legend.
After checking out the various Legend sites, I think I've narrowed it down this far: '94 or '95, L or LS sedan with either a manual or automatic transmission. I do have a couple of questions: 1. Problem areas. I've read about radiator and motor mount problems. Are there any other specific trouble areas I should check out? 2. Transmission. Between automatic or manual, is there a prefered transmission for reliability? For performance? 3. Model year. Is there any reason a pre '94 would be better than a '94 or '95? 4. Anything else that I'm missing that I should consider? Thanks, LeonD |

To sum up.. All the engine probles are mostly due to the Lack of previous and / or current owners maintence. Some parts like the trans. mount , radiator & such will go out regardless because of just age....So sometimes it's a given.
I brought my 95 L Coupe a year 1/2 ago (w/ 53K) and had to replace: Rear motor mount Master Cylinder Shift Knob Soilenoid Thats thoes only problems i've had thus far.. (currnetly @ 63K) I would say get a 94-95 LS because it has every option avalible Power EVERYthing Real Wood 16" GS Rims (on LS Coupe & GS Sedan Only) Painted moldings Heated seats & 94-95 have the telescopic sterring wheel. Also I heard that the 94's paint process was better than the 95's.... |

First of all congratulations on considering Legend as your next car. Excellent choice!
You might want to also consider 94/95 GS Sedan. GS trim was above than L or LS or SE. By the way SE came only in 1995. Features of GS: Automatic or 6 Speed available (very rare) 230 HP TypeII Engine (both L, LS and SE sedans have 200HP) Traction Control 16" rims heated seats automatic climate control telescopic steering wheel Most importantly wait for the right Legend to come along. Sometimes people in a rush go for the wrong car. Good luck! |

How Many times do I have to say it?!?
You've had a GS-R, for cryin' out loud! You will NOT be happy with an L or LS sedan because they have the Type I engine (200HP). I highly recommend you get a GS, and in order to use all of the 230 HP, 6700rpm redline-flexible power it offers, you need to experience it coupled to the rare and buttery-smooth 6-speed manual.
What's that? You can't find a GS 6-speed for sale anywhere? No problem - mine is for sale, needs nothing, is absolutely showroom. I challenge you to show me a nicer Legend for anywhere near the price, regardless of mileage! http://www.cars.com/search/used/cc/s...onal&src=&cid=

Problem areas: ABS pressure switch, ABS wheel sensors, Pwr window master switch, Pwr door lock actuator, antenna mast, differential seeping, master cylinder, ignition switch, main fuel relay, torn weatherstrip due to lack of lubrication of run channels, outer door handles failing, inner door handle cable tab failure, head gasket failure, and vehicle speed sensor.
Little "glitches" which at times seem to add up, but you are dealing with a vehicle 8 or more yrs old. If properly maintained and not abused, will go 200,000 miles. If possible, buy a 94-95 because of the traction control. |
