The door lock actuators are a problem on these cars. A bad one can also cause the alarm to sound randomly. Also if the key is left in the ignition it will automaticly unlock when you try to lock it. If the switch in the ignition switch malfunctions it could think the key is still in.

Look in the OEM parts section for a replacement lock actuator and replace your broken one.

Whenever I unlock the passenger door with a key from the outside my trunk pops open........
whenever I lock the doors from inside the car using the switch.... my trunk pops open! My clifford isn't set up properly........ could it be the alarm, or is it some actuator? |

Driver's door most likely; front passenger's side is second. The culprit part
wears from use. The driver's side is usually the most used and most worn. DIY exists with instructions on removal and repair or replacement. Edit: heres a link: DIY - Door Lock Actuator Fix Last edited by Boru : 07-06-08 at 09:14 PM. |

i have developed a somewhat similar problem which i havent seen discussed on the forums here. when i unlock my doors, i get a cycling... not when locking. this only happens on the passenger front door. i unlock the door using the power locks and it will unlock and grind for about a second. it started off as something that occurred only when it was really cold outside. now it happens every time i unlock the door. it doesnt bother me too much cuz the locks still work and the car is old, but everyone asks me WTF is wrong with ur car? when i unlock it because the grinding noise is pretty loud. im not sure if it has to do with the actuator or rubber stopper but i really dont feel like tearing my doors apart again just to fix it. i will have to if it gets worse... has anyone else seen or heard of this problem on the legend?
