question for NY owners

Do I need to show up with the physical vehicle to register it at the DMV? It seems like I can register it with only the title, bill of sale, insurance etc.

I am thinking of buying a car in PA and registering it in NY. In my situation, it would be a real pain to have to bring the vehicle with me to the DMV. I'd much prefer to leave it with a friend in PA until I secure parking in Manhattan.

Nope, not unless you can find a way to get the car to fit in your pocket.

It is not necessary to bring the car to the DMV. Just have the tiltle, Insurance documents, Driver License and possibly your bill of sale. Thats it!

The only way another name could show up is by having two drivers on the policy which is usually too expensive or your name on the title itself as an owner.

Everyone remember if you need a late night DMV coney island on thursday is open until I think 6pm.
