There will just be adhesive. I took mine off last Friday cause the gold was ugly on it. I planned on getting new chrome emblems, but the trunk looks better without them IMO. However, I did leave the Acura logo just above the trunk key hole. The adhesive is not too fun to get off. I took mine off with a lot of lacquer thinner and a lot of rubbing. Contrary to popular belief, lacquer thinner will not hurt your finish if it still has a good clearcoat. If your trunk is a repaint I wouldn't use lacquer thinner. Just hand buff it when you are finished and it will shine like a dimond.

I recommend Goo Gone. Just make sure to mask the area cuz that oily residue is tough to take off.

If you do use lacquer thinner be sure not to get on your taillight, it will burn it to an ugly color. Maybe goo goo or whatever will be better, dunno never used it.

Hmm, never thought of rubbing alcohol. Hope it doesn't have any latter effects. I detailed for 3 years and I saw a few products that had no adverse effects until later. Just give it a good waxing in the area after.
