Question for you 5sp owners what is your favorite and least favorite gear....

I have only had this Legend only 2 months so I am still adjusting to it. Like with any manual tranny you have to learn it and find it's strenght's and weaknesses. I have determined that 1st gear (at least in my car is a total waist) The car is an absolute slug of the line. But second gear is so torquey that in traffic I have slowed down in second gear without the need to shift to first. Second actually is torquey enough that I can just take off from there. Second gear really comes to life above 4k rpm.

I try not to make comparisons but I guess I was use to the "power @ the end of my foot" feel in my previous car (primarily off the line) 1st and second gear were very impressive and then the fun was over well before 5th gear.

I have not spent much time in 5th gear but right now I am actually enjoying 2nd gear you know how every car has a "You don't want to @#*& with me gear? with the Maxima it was first and second gear I still have not determined what gear that is in the Legend probably 4th because the few times I had it on the road it kept pulling......................keep in mind I am certain my car needs a tune up and regualar maintenace so maybe this is why it is a slug off the line. I will be doing an engine swap before summer. I just want to hear your opinions..

Thanks,
Pat

I like 4th gear cause when I'm cruising in 4th, I can keep my hand on the shifter and my arm on the arm rest. 3rd Gear seems to be the most versatile one. 2nd has some good power(well same amount of power, i guess, but more fun to use). 1st sucks. 5th is for highway cruising.
Question: On the highway, anyone ever have to drop it out of 5th? Cause i seem to have enough power for passing and such, that I never have to drop it out of 5th unless im slowing down.

It is not convenient to rest the hand on the shifter because it causes wearout in the interior mechanism.

On the highway I only drop it out of 5th when I see the toll. I miss a 6th speed.

My favourite is 4th (except highway) because is very confortable and you can either go fast or go slow in this gear. You also have a lot of response.

I the city the second gear is enough for the Legend. The engine runs loose and you have the car where you want.

I dont know what you are taking about, but my first gear has real nice pickup if i start about 2.5k . My favourite gear is probalby second cause i use it the most, in brooklyn its a rare occasion that i shift into 4th, even more rare 5th. Also i like 2nd cause it has a lot of braking power dont have to press the brake pedal, probalby pisses off drivers behind me that my brake lights dont come on.

Totally agree with 2nd gear comments. I was wondering if that was normal...I guess so.
